One of our core upcoming initiatives is a food data blog. The data blog will do interactive data journalism pieces on important topics in the food world. For example, it is very much in the style of:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2015\/02\/17\/upshot\/what-do-people-actually-order-at-chipotle.html?abt=0002&amp;abg=1\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/<wbr \/>interactive\/2015\/02\/17\/upshot\/<wbr \/>what-do-people-actually-order-<wbr \/>at-chipotle.html?abt=0002&amp;abg=<wbr \/>1<\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2014\/12\/22\/upshot\/what-2000-calories-looks-like.html?abt=0002&amp;abg=1\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/<wbr \/>interactive\/2014\/12\/22\/upshot\/<wbr \/>what-2000-calories-looks-like.<wbr \/>html?abt=0002&amp;abg=1<\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Our first piece is a deep data dive into Soylent (and other similar meal replacement concepts), and we have a number of upcoming pieces that we are working on. Our goal is to surface and present important food data in a fun, playful, and approachable way.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>We currently have a student from NYU Master\u2019s in Food Studies department and a Registered Dietitian working on these pieces, and we are now looking for an ITP student collaborator to help lead the digital, interactive, and graphic components (working with ITP adjunct &amp; former resident Sam Slover).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Your responsibilities will include:<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Work closely with the Food Studies and Registered Dietitian contributors to define the overall story and narrative for each post<\/li>\n<li>Help define the overall visual aesthetic for each post<\/li>\n<li>Help lead asset creation for each post \u2014 graphics, illustrations, charts, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Help define and create user interactions \u2014 what happens when the user scrolls? are their interactive pieces embedded throughout the post?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div><b>This will be a for-credit internship starting the 1st week of the semester.\u00a0<\/b><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>If interested, please email Sam (<a href=\"mailto:sam@sage.is\" target=\"_blank\">sam@sage.is<\/a>) stating why you\u2019re interested and links to any of your work.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Food Data Journalism Intern Sage is a new data visualization platform building smarter food labels.
