POETICS ARTS APP SEEKS INTERN<\/b><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n
Hello ITP students.\u00a0 I\u2019m an artist based in the LES with an app artwork project in need of assistance.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The app is a visual poetry app called Poetics.\u00a0 It\u2019s currently used around the world and also in classrooms to teach a variety of subjects.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Recent work includes partnership with the\u00a0NY Dept of Education, presenting the app at NY Tech Meetup, and meeting with Apple to discuss the app\u2019s arts + education crossover.<\/p>\n
<\/div>\n
The project is lean and arts-centered, with a tiny team of one artist and developer.\u00a0 Because of this setup outside the VC system, funding remains limited.\u00a0 For the right fit, a small stipend is available to join the project as an intern.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Below are some of the areas in mind to pursue with the internship, the direction depending on your interests and skillset:<\/div>\n
\n*<\/b> iOS DEVELOPMENT AND RESEARCH<\/b><\/div>\n
Developing features and app updates in need of research and code development.\u00a0 This track is iOS\u00a0programming meets UI and design work, particularly in the area of typography, imagery, physics engines, and collaborative creation.<\/div>\n
\n* EDUCATION R&D<\/b><\/div>\n
Research in ed tech, STEAM, integrated education, studies and connection with schools, teachers, organizations.\u00a0 Potential org of local school pilot, including curriculum development. Research on special needs education usage, including autism spectrum and dyslexia.<\/p>\n

* ARCHIVE AND INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH<\/b><\/div>\n

R&D and archival collection, organization of app outputs on social media by users of Poetics, for archive and possible publishing.\u00a0 May include sociology \/ anthropology research answering questions like: Why\u00a0is Poetics popular in Saudi Arabia. How is it used there?<\/p>\n

* POETRY \/ ARTS \/ ORGS<\/b><\/div>\n

Developing and connecting with arts and poetry orgs, potentially helping develop arts \/ poetry \/ arts history based curriculum using the app, for range of age groups, kids to college level.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
* FUNDRAISING \/ PATRONAGE<\/b><\/div>\n
If this is up your alley, there are efforts afoot to develop a circle of patrons, supporting the project and paving the way forward to fund other app artworks outside the VC system.\u00a0 Can include arts and education grant development.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
