Vision Ed, Inc (VEI) is an education non-profit (501(c)3) that works with youth and educators to<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
support authentic learning experiences using technology, and the arts, giving the learner control<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
of both design and creation. In doing this, VEI is counteracting deep-seated trends in education.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
We pay particular attention to our impact on disenfranchised student populations as well as<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
youth who have been failed by traditional education, in New York City and beyond.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
We currently have an exciting opportunity to provide an after school music production program,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
and would like you to join our team!<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
VEI is currently seeking a part-time instructor to teach the various elements of beat making and<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
music production 1-2 times a week at a high school in the South Bronx.\u00a0 The instructor will be<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
responsible for creating the curriculum for the class under the supervision of our managers.\u00a0 Our<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
focus is on creating an environment that engages students with all levels of experience,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
encourages collaboration and builds confidence.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Our instructors are compensated at competitive rates, and those who demonstrate excellent<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
performance will be considered for additional teaching opportunities.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Teach 1-2 days a week from 3-5pm from late-September 2015 through spring 2016<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Create curriculum for the class to be submitted to manager for approval<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Maintain regular communication with manager<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Complete written reports detailing classroom activity within 24 hours of class<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Requirements<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Strong background music production<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Strong knowledge of & experience in all elements of music production including beat<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
making, song writing, recording and editing<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Experience with teens either in a traditional school environment or within non-<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
traditional teaching environments such as tutoring or camp counseling<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Ability to engage students with varied skill levels in the same group<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Ability to commit to teaching 1-2 days a week<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Proven mastery of classroom management techniques<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Ability to be on time and prepared for class<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Ability to independently get to and from the South Bronx<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Availability to attend staff trainings and workshops as required<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Energy and enthusiasm about working with youth<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
