The Rap Research Lab is currently seeking to hire an assistant to help with\u00a0developing\/modifying\/updating a small\u00a0data visualization project programed in\u00a0Processing.<\/div>\n

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ASSISTANT
\nCandidates should have:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
— Experience with Processing
\n— Proficiency in p5.js with WebGL and\/or three.js
\n— Experience with computational typography, ideally in 3D
\n— Comfort using trigonometry and spherical coordinates<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

BACKGROUND<\/div>\n
Rap Research Lab (RRL) is a youth program that teaches art & design, cultural analysis, data\u00a0mining, and data visualization to teens using a design process and project-based curriculum\u00a0that visualizes hip-hop as a cultural indicator.<\/p>\n

Students learn how to use a number of tools, including the Rap Almanac, a searchable\u00a0database built from the lyrics of over 50,000 hip-hop songs from 1979 to present day, which\u00a0generates textual and quantified reports on searched words, phrases and ideas.<\/p><\/div>\n
