Job Description: As part of NYU Gallatin\u2019s initiative to make the most innovative and effective teaching and learning technologies available to our faculty and students, we are looking for two (2) Graduate-level students to serve as Digital Learning Assistants beginning immediately.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n

This position will work with faculty and students to design and implement pedagogically-driven projects using digital platforms, tools, and resources in order to facilitate collaborative, experiential, and active learning. This position will also assist in constructing and maintaining digital learning resources for the Gallatin School, and help organize events promoting digital teaching practices.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Applicants should be interested in integrating technology and pedagogy for the benefit of students and faculty, both inside and outside of the classroom. Students with teaching experience are especially encouraged to apply. Gallatin Digital Learning Assistants will be paid $17.00\/hour. In addition, each assistant will receive a laptop, on loan, for the duration of their employment. It is expected that this position will work about 15 hours per week for the appointed semester.\u00a0 This position reports to Jenny Kijowski, Educational Technologist at NYU Gallatin.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

NYU Graduate students in all disciplines are welcome to apply for the position.\u00a0 Applicants must be currently registered full-time students in good academic standing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Anticipated Daily Schedule (3 days\/week, 5 hours\/day)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

1-2 hours: consult faculty, create course sites, design projects, conduct in-class workshops when requested
\n1-2 hours: add content to Digital Gallatin site
\n1 hour: research
\nfinding new platforms, learning new tools, researching best practices for digital tools in a learning environment
\n1 hour: troubleshooting, advising students (office hours: in person or online)<\/p>\n

Gallatin Digital Learning Assistants will have the opportunity to work closely with some of Gallatin\u2019s faculty, staff and students, and to receive extensive training and experience in a highly marketable skill set.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n
\n

Digital Learning Assistants will be expected to:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

work closely with faculty to integrate technology into the curricula and assignments
\ntrain and support them in use of NYU\u2019s digital assets and third-party applications and tools
\nidentify and suggest various forms of technology suitable to meet the goals of each class
\nattend, participate, and\/or lead portions of some class sessions, as requested by faculty
\nwork with students to complete their digital projects
\ntrain and support them in use of NYU\u2019s digital assets and third-party applications and tools
\nhold regular office hours to advise and mentor students
\nassist them in locating and evaluating media services, research tools, and databases on the Internet
\nattend events associated with specific courses and Gallatin-wide interests
\nparticipate in ongoing training and attend regular meetings with other digital resource assistants
\nprepare training documents, FAQs, and other ed-tech support materials for students, faculty, and digital resource assistants<\/p>\n

Qualifications<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Interest and experience in digital teaching and learning
\nExcellent communication skills
\nExperience with WordPress, Sakai, VoiceThread, Omeka, Captivate, and other tools, apps & software in an educational context
\nAn exploratory, DIY spirit when it comes to experimenting with emerging technologies
\nAbility to multitask
\nDetail-oriented<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
