Hot Studio is a user-centered design agency dedicated to creating elegant solutions for complex design
\nchallenges. Project work includes design for highly-interactive websites and web-based applications, as well
\nas print design, corporate identity, and brand development. Clients include Warner Music Group, MarketWatch,
\nEl Museo del Barrio, The United Nations, Dwell, eBay, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Charles Schwab,
\nGap Inc., Cisco, and the California Academy of Sciences.
\nWe are seeking highly-motivated creative leadership to represent and grow our New York presence. The selected
\ncandidate will successfully coordinate projects with bi-coastal teams, leverage existing New York relationships to
\nbring in new clients, and enhance the growth of our New York office through scoping new business, managing
\ncreative teams, ensuring creative excellence, and hiring staff.
\nResponsibilities
\nLEADERSHIP
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Provide creative direction and leadership on all projects within the New York office
\n\u2022 Work collaboratively with the San Francisco leadership team on the evolution of a common design process
\nand shared level of exceptional quality
\n\u2022 Lead and\/or attend weekly meetings: Hot all-hands, New York office, Hot leadership, user experience\/visual
\ndesign, etc.
\n\u2022 Collaborate with Hot project managers in New York and San Francisco to help manage projects
\n\u2022 Represent Hot within the New York design and business communities and beyond: public speaking,
\nworkshops, conference participation, etc.
\n\u2022 Lead formal design presentations and workshops with clients
\nDESIGN GUARDIANSHIP
\n\u2022\u00a0 Participate in the management, review, and leadership\/mentorship of visual designers, user experience
\ndesigners, design engineers, and project managers
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Lead the solving of design challenges, contributing concepts for key projects
\n\u2022\u00a0 Hire and\/or engage visual design, user experience, and design engineering practitioners, freelance or full-time
\nNEW BUSINESS + CLIENT MANAGEMENT
\n\u2022 Act as a steward for the Hot brand as realized in its New York office
\n\u2022 Work with executive leadership to identify new relationships and grow existing ones
\n\u2022\u00a0 Lead new business pursuits, independently or with Hot staff
\n\u2022 Pursue and\/or receive initial contact with New York and East Coast new business inquiries
\n\u2022\u00a0 Work collaboratively with clients, developing a strong understanding of the clients and users\u2019 needs, dynamics,
\nand behaviors
\n\u2022 Generate and maintain centralized New York-based contacts and resources
\n\u2022 Contribute to the scoping of new business proposals
\n\u2022 Provide guidance in project and account planning
\n\u2022 Negotiate deliverables, internally and externally
\nRequired Skills & Qualifications
\n\u2022\u00a0 5-10+ years experience as a leader in an interactive design agency
\n\u2022\u00a0 Deep business connections and business network within New York
\n\u2022 Experience growing an office with an existing brand
\n\u2022 Proven ability to open new frontiers in data visualization, social media, mobile applications, etc.
\n\u2022\u00a0 Strong understanding of visual design, information architecture, and design engineering
\n\u2022\u00a0 Superior presentation, oral and written communication skills
\n\u2022 Experience with profit and loss management
\n\u2022\u00a0 Excellent team-building and problem-solving skills
