Public Programs \/ Margaret Mead Film Festival Internship at the American Museum of<\/p>\n
Natural History<\/p>\n
The Public Programs division of the museum organizes lectures, workshops, festivals and<\/p>\n
film screenings related to the museum\u2019s temporary and permanent exhibits. Interns will<\/p>\n
have the opportunity to work on projects related to both the Margaret Mead Film Festival<\/p>\n
and other public programs.<\/p>\n
The Margaret Mead Film Festival is the longest-running showcase for international<\/p>\n
documentaries in the United States, encompassing a broad spectrum of work from<\/p>\n
indigenous community media to experimental nonfiction. The festival is distinguished by<\/p>\n
its outstanding selection of titles, which tackle diverse and challenging subjects,<\/p>\n
representing a range of issues and perspectives, and by the forums for discussion with<\/p>\n
filmmakers and speakers.<\/p>\n
Interns are critical to our operations and we are currently seeking motivated and creative<\/p>\n
individuals to work with us. This internship enables interns to learn about public programs<\/p>\n
and film festival production, museum operations, and outreach strategies. We require our<\/p>\n
interns to work at least 2 whole days per week (10:00-5:00 pm, M-F) plus assist with 4<\/p>\n
evening and\/or weekend programs per month. Although this is an unpaid internship,<\/p>\n
many of our past interns have received payment or credit through work-study or academic<\/p>\n
credit programs offered by their universities.<\/p>\n
RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n
Intern tasks include, but are not limited to: general office and administrative support;<\/p>\n
composing\/designing and distributing flyers and posters; maintaining databases; working<\/p>\n
on outreach, education projects; and assisting with marketing\/publicity.<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS:<\/p>\n
Current college or graduate students, preferably with arts, social science or media degrees.<\/p>\n
Must be reliable, organized and positive. Must have deep knowledge of Excel and Word.<\/p>\n
Arts\/technology knowledge, and knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, a plus.<\/p>\n
Applications are considered on a rolling basis, however, the deadline for the Summer 2016<\/p>\n
internship season is Friday, May 13th.<\/p>\n
