EXHIBITION TECHNICIAN<\/div>\n

As an educational and cultural nonprofit institution, the Intrepid Sea, Air &amp; Space Museum<\/div>\n

promotes the awareness and understanding of history, science and service through its<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
collections, exhibitions and programming in order to honor our heroes, educate the public and<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
inspire our youth. Located in New York City on the Hudson River, the Intrepid Museum was<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
founded in 1982 with the acquisition of the legendary aircraft carrier Intrepid, a National Historic<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Landmark. Welcoming one million visitors annually, the Museum also features the space shuttle<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Enterprise, the world\u2019s fastest jets and a guided missile submarine.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Intrepid Sea, Air &amp; Space Museum is looking for two part-time Exhibition Technicians to<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
maintains and repairs exhibition elements, equipment and interactive stations to ensure<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
functionality and quality experience for all visitors during the upcoming exhibition season from<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
June 27th \u2013 October 31st.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Essential Responsibilities include:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Maintains and repairs interactive and exhibit elements to ensure functionality and quality<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
performance.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Reviews functionality and performs repairs on a regular schedule throughout the day.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Aids in maintaining the inventory records of exhibition supplies related to current<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
displays.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Performs electronic and light mechanical repairs as related to media and interactive<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
exhibit elements and equipment.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Closes exhibitions per daily schedule and reviews functionality on regular scheduled<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
reviews throughout the day.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\uf0b7 Performs other duties as required.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
This position requires an 18 week commitment from June 27 to October 31, 2016, including 2<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
weeks training; June 27 \u2013 July 9: 9am \u2013 5pm. The regular working hours will begin July 10th \u2013<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
October 31st: 2pm-8pm, Sunday \u2013 Thursday, 2pm – 9pm, Friday-Saturday.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 2 years\u2019 experience with museum media, audio,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
graphics, hands-on interactive elements and lighting equipment. The candidate must have the<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
knowledge and ability to safely use power tools and other shop equipment, basic knowledge in<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
a variety of engineering or scientific principles, and basic knowledge of exhibition fabrication,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
installation and repair methods and materials. The candidate must be able to read and interpret<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
shop drawings, user manuals, and hardware lists, be self-motivated with good problem-solving,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
judgment, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills and be able to meet deadlines<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
in a fast-paced environment. Must enjoy working within a team environment and with the public.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as necessary.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
