Monday to Friday; August 8 through 19, 2016<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Position Overview:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The STEM Robotics Instructor at Liberty Science Center is responsible for delivering engaging lab-based<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>STEM enriched technology workshops to varied ages of campers. The Instructor will clearly<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>communicate learning objectives to campers using established curriculum, adapting teaching methods<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>and instructional materials to meet the campers&amp;#39; varying needs. The STEM Robotics Instructor must have<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>knowledge in a variety of engineering techniques, equipment, terminology, and vocabulary. The ideal<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>candidate is energetic, engaging, innovative, team-oriented, and an expert at communicating with kids.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Essential Functions<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Prepare lab spaces and teach sequential skill-building lesson plans<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Use established curriculum becoming competent to instruct assigned technology camp<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Establish good rapport with students and parents that motivates participation and engagement.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Classroom management<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Encourage and coach students in scientific and engineering methods working toward a<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>culminating project through active engagement.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Manage and secure technology equipment<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Organize course materials, properly packing and storing at end of camp week<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Attend weekly Staff Meetings<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Assist in daily camp wide activities, other duties<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Be a positive role model for campers and staff in helping to create an inclusive camp culture<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Ensure the safe operation and instruction of the camp activities in accordance with Liberty<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Science Center policies and procedures.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Requirements<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Familiarity of LEGO Mindstorms | FIRST Robotics Competition experience would be a plus<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Comfort troubleshooting coding and equipment on the fly<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Must have prior experience successfully teaching and instructing youth<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\uf0b7 Knowledge of educational pedagogies<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Work Environment<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Liberty Science Center is located in a beautiful state park in Jersey City with easy access to free parking,<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, and the NJ Path train. All employees have access to an on-site caf\u00e9, a<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>terrace with stunning NYC views, and on-site yoga. The STEM Robotics Instructor will work in both low-<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>light and natural light. The Instructor will work 75% of the time in on-site classrooms delivering camp<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>curriculum and 25% of the time assisting with camp wide and recreational activities helping to create an<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>inclusive camp community and preparing the classroom for upcoming workshop deliveries.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Physical Demands<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>successfully perform the essential functions of this job.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The STEM Robotics Instructor will stand for long periods of time and maneuver through museum<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>crowds. They will demonstrate proficiency operating LSC technology. The ability to work with moderate<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>to high noise level and lift 30 lbs. will be necessary.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Position Type\/Expected Hours of Work<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This is a seasonal Part Time position.
