The successful candidate will deliver lessons to students across 1<span class=\"\">st <\/span>to 8<span class=\"\">th <\/span>grade as well as collaborating with Early Years specialists on introducing Technology to their curriculum. The subject will be based in a new purpose built Technology Lab to be opened in September and there is the opportunity for the right candidate to develop the role and subject in the school over the coming year. The teaching allocation is currently envisaged to be spread across three days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">We would also be willing to consider a suitably experienced candidate able to support Science or Maths programs in the school for a full time position from September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><b>Key Responsibilities:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Be accountable for planning independently and collaboratively for our students\u2019 diverse learning needs<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Planning based on agreed upon student learning outcomes as detailed in the English National Curriculum<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Involving students in planning for their own learning and assessment<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Planning PYP <span class=\"\">&amp; <\/span>MYP units of study to be explored in depth<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Planning and teaching that develops each student\u2019s technology skills<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Teaching and applying the skills of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in all areas of the curriculum<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Addressing assessment matters throughout the planning process<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Creating meaningful and relevant student centred lessons and assessments that engage learners<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Planning and teaching which emphasizes connections between and among curriculum areas<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Using a variety of resources representing multiple perspectives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Teaching using multiple types of inquiry<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Assessing student performances in a variety of ways and maintaining accurate student records<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Communicating regularly and professionally with parents<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Commitment to ongoing professional development<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><b>Person Specifications\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Qualified primary school teacher<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Excellent communication skills and be willing to adapt to the demands of an international school<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Passion for teaching young children<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Flexible and able to use own initiative<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Well organized and good time management skills<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Good ICT skills and committed to its use in the classroom<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 International perspective<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Knowledge of IB or a willingness to learn<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 A team player<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><b>Why work at BIS-NY?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Combined with the traditional skills of the English National Curriculum, BIS-NY \u2018s unique curriculum inspires and challenges our students to develop a love of learning and develop as balanced individuals, academically successful and willing to take risks to face the challenges of an ever changing world of the 21<span class=\"\">st <\/span>century.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Our students and teachers come from all walks of life, but the enthusiasm they share for learning and teaching brings them into a unique sense of community that celebrates and thrives on diversity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><b>Terms:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Salary \u2013commensurate with experience<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Lunch is provided free of charge in the school dining hall<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Teachers are required to attend In-Service\/Inset and Staff Meetings<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 Subject to fingerprinting and background check<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\uf0b7 The post becomes available from September 2016<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><i>The British International School of New York is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
