Founded by Courtney Sale Ross in 1996, Ross Institute promotes understanding of<\/p>\n
globalization\u2019s implications for precollegiate education and develops and provides<\/p>\n
curriculum resources and mentoring to Ross School, which operates as Ross Institute\u2019s<\/p>\n
lab school, and to schools around the world interested in adopting the Ross model.<\/p>\n

INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER FOR ONLINE COURSES<\/p>\n
Ross Institute seeks an Instructional Designer to lead content development of a suite of<\/p>\n
innovative online professional development courses for K\u201312 teachers. This individual<\/p>\n
will develop content and architect the user experience, applying their expertise in<\/p>\n
instructional design and adult learning theory.<\/p>\n
RESPONSIBILITIES<\/p>\n
Reporting to the Chief Academic Officer and working closely with the RLS Project<\/p>\n
Director, Director of Academics, Academic Team, and Faculty, the Instructional Designer<\/p>\n
has the following essential duties and responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\u25cf Collaborate with Ross internal teams (academic content \/ writers, video<\/p>\n
production, graphic design and technology) to develop schedule and identify<\/p>\n
project milestones \/ deliverables<\/p>\n
\u25cf Collaborate with UX designer on defining detailed functionality<\/p>\n
\u25cf Work with subject matter experts to develop content including overseeing<\/p>\n
\u25cf Identify\/incorporate or develop appropriate learning activities\/exercises<\/p>\n
\u25cf Determines best presentation approach such as instructor-led,<\/p>\n
\u25cf Collaborate on design and development of online, web-based and<\/p>\n
script writing process<\/p>\n
needed to enable learners to achieve learning objectives (e.g., delivery<\/p>\n
timeframes, durations, techniques)<\/p>\n
self-evaluations and assessments to ensure effectiveness of programs, and<\/p>\n
recommending \/ implementing modifications as necessary<\/p>\n
video-conferencing supported materials<\/p>\n
\u25cf Analyze learning situations, assessing teaching style(s) and student audience<\/p>\n
and apply appropriate learning theory, instructional design theory, and\/or<\/p>\n
technology to instructional design<\/p>\n
\u25cf Maintain and develop course templates, models, standards and procedures<\/p>\n
\u25cf Storyboard content for course creation and video production<\/p>\n
\u25cf Test concepts, perform task and user analysis, and assist with user<\/p>\n
\u25cf Generate user guides, online help, and technical documentation<\/p>\n
\u25cf Work closely with Ross Technology on backend delivery plan \/ budgeting<\/p>\n
\u25cf Work closely with Ross Communications to ensure aesthetic is consistent<\/p>\n
\u25cf Explore application and effectiveness of new training<\/p>\n
acceptance testing<\/p>\n
with organizational branding<\/p>\n
technologies\/methodologies to enhance course instruction<\/p>\n
\u25cf Bachelor\u2019s degree in a related discipline with at least 5 years of experience in<\/p>\n
nonprofit or educational sector.<\/p>\n
\u25cf Expert understanding of instructional design theory, online learning systems, best<\/p>\n
practices and current research \/ theory in adult online learning<\/p>\n
\u25cf Expert communication skills: written, verbal and presentation<\/p>\n
\u25cf Expert knowledge of technical programs and resources utilized in e-learning<\/p>\n
creation, such as video, animation, music, voice recording, etc.<\/p>\n
\u25cf Experience developing interactive, innovative online courses (portfolio required)<\/p>\n
\u25cf Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or other storyboarding<\/p>\n
\u25cf Self-directed and capable of working in a fast-paced environment<\/p>\n
\u25cf Thoughtful and creative under pressure; able to represent institutional<\/p>\n
perspectives, mission, and objectives.<\/p>\n
\u25cf Collaborative work style, sense of humor, and belief in possibilities.<\/p>\n
\u25cf Bilingual English\/Spanish or English\/Mandarin an asset.<\/p>\n
