Position Summary:
\nArts and Science is seeking a dedicated Multimedia Specialist to join
\nthe Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. This individual will
\nprovide multimedia technical workshop training to students during
\nclass and outside workshops; present, discuss, demonstrate, and apply
\nmedia technology techniques; advise on selection of media equipment.
\nWork with Faculty to conceptualize course content and digital
\nsolutions based on class project requirements. Work with students to
\nprovide support for fieldwork, documentaries and photography related
\nto coursework. Provide training during student studio time. Provide
\nmultimedia expertise for the Bedford + Bowery New York Magazine
\ninitiative including: quality control, graphic creation with editors,
\nand coding articles to put into WordPress. Provide media services for
\nother internal projects and specialized academic initiatives as
\nneeded. Co-administer the Journalism Website.<\/p>\n
Qualifications:
\nRequired Education:
\nBachelor’s degree<\/p>\n
Required Experience:
\n3 years’ related experience or an equivalent combination. Must include
\nexperience with multimedia, group and individual technical training,
\ndeveloping and maintaining a web sites, creating\/ modifying scripts.<\/p>\n
Preferred Experience:
\nExperience in a higher academic journalism environment and with
\noperating systems.<\/p>\n
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
\nThe candidate must be a fast-learning, creative problem solver,
\nexcited (and knowledgeable) about the possibilities and practice of
\nonline journalism and publishing, including audio and video.
\nDevelopment of PHP\/MySQL applications (both custom and open-source,
\ni.e. WordPress, Drupal). HTML\/CSS and Flash expertise, Adobe Premier,
\nbasic Adobe Photoshop. Working knowledge of web programming languages.
\nOnline audio\/video knowledge. Solid communication skills\/ability to
\nwork with diverse groups of individuals including students, faculty
\nand staff. Detail oriented and well organized. A self-starter with
\ngood self-management skills. Ability to monitor and analyze website
\nproblems. Ability to monitor, analyze and report on server performance
\nand use. Knowledge of a variety of current and emerging technologies.<\/p>\n
