\n Editorial Designer<\/p>\n
Job\/Internship Description:
\n The Marshall Project seeks an Editorial Designer to oversee the
\n award-winning visuals of the publication, including digital design,
\n photography and illustration.<\/p>\n
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded journalist and designer with 3-5
\n years\u2019 experience in media and\/or publishing. The Editorial Designer
\n should have a wide range of visual interests and experience and the
\n ability to juggle a variety of tasks in a small but ambitious
\n newsroom.<\/p>\n
* Design and build presentations and experiences that expand and
\n improve upon The Marshall Project\u2019s storytelling<\/p>\n
* Uphold visual standards for The Marshall Project and define a fresh
\n visual language for telling the story of criminal justice<\/p>\n
* Work with newsroom and social media colleagues to build The Marshall
\n Project\u2019s audience through visual communication<\/p>\n
* Partner with the director of technology on UX and design language
\n for the core website<\/p>\n
* Take part in developing a vision for multimedia at The Marshall
\n Project, including photo, illustration and video projects<\/p>\n
* Work with partner news organizations to art co-published stories<\/p>\n
* Work with the president, development director, and communications
\n director in using visual communication to build support and engagement
\n with The Marshall Project<\/p>\n
Required Skills:
\n * A nuanced grasp of typography, color, motion and space<\/p>\n
* Demonstrated digital news design experience<\/p>\n
* Precise attention to detail and strong computer skills<\/p>\n
* Basic HTML and CSS skills are required<\/p>\n
* Strong sense of news judgment and storytelling<\/p>\n
* JavaScript preferred<\/p>\n
