The Department of Humanities invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor to teach<\/p>\n
courses in the New Media Technology A.A.S. program. Courses include Introduction to New Media,<\/p>\n
Multimedia\/Web Design, Web Animation and Interactivity, Internet Video, Game Design, and Web<\/p>\n
Development and Design.<\/p>\n
Student advisement, participate in curriculum and program development, committee participation, active<\/p>\n
involvement in co-curricular media program activities, liaise with internship counselor, and ongoing<\/p>\n
professional development are required. Shared responsibilities include department assignments including<\/p>\n
administrative, supervisory, and other functions. The Assistant Professor of New Media Technology will work<\/p>\n
with other departments in English, business and computer science to develop and improve track specializations<\/p>\n
in the major. The specialized tracks include digital journalism, video game development, app development and<\/p>\n
e-commerce.<\/p>\n
Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise.<\/p>\n
The Associate in Applied Science degree in New Media Technology is designed to prepare students to enter<\/p>\n
directly into the workplace or to further their educations by transferring to a B.S., B.F.A., or B.S. degree<\/p>\n
program. The New Media Technology degree offers students the opportunity to learn skills such as web design,<\/p>\n
web animation and interactivity, Internet video, and game design. Other required and elective courses place<\/p>\n
those skills in the context of artistic traditions and values, introduce students to the wide range of career<\/p>\n
opportunities in which they may apply their skills, and the social and ethical issues raised by new technologies.<\/p>\n

QUALIFICATIONS<\/p>\n
M.F.A., Master of Professional Studies, or equivalent terminal degree in digital media or related discipline.<\/p>\n
Professional experience in fields such as game design, web design and development, animation and<\/p>\n
interactivity, graphics and scripting, video capture, editing and compression, and\/or significant creative<\/p>\n
accomplishments in digital media also required.<\/p>\n
Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to<\/p>\n
cooperate with others for the good of the institution.<\/p>\n
