The USA TODAY NETWORK is seeking an innovative producer passionate about storytelling for its flagship Virtual Reality news program, VRtually There.<\/p>\n
VRtually There is the first of its kind: a weekly virtual reality experience that not only delivers the news, but transforms it by taking viewers places where traditional storytelling can\u2019t. The program is powered by stories told from across the vast USA TODAY NETWORK. As an exclusive co-production with YouTube, VRtually There will be featured across the USA TODAY NETWORK and YouTube.<\/p>\n
The producer will be responsible for building and publishing the show each week. Under direction of the Executive Producer and in conjunction with the USA TODAY NETWORK VR production and innovation teams, the producer will draw from content within and beyond the network.
\nJust as important as daily duties is a spirit of adventure and excitement about exploring new frontiers in storytelling and news delivery.<\/p>\n
Duties will include:
\nEditing and producing each VRtually There episode using a combination of Premiere, AfterEffects and Skybox
\nHelping manage content organization, planning and publishing using internal CMS and external platforms
\nIn conjunction with USA TODAY NETWORK VR production and innovation teams, generating and executing segment ideas and leveraging VR content contributions from the network and beyond
\nWorking with YouTube partners at the YouTube creator space in New York City, utilizing the Google Jump camera system and coordinating YouTube talent for select segments
\nEnforcing standards and maintaining a high quality bar for the experience<\/p>\n
Requirements:
\n5+ years\u2019 experience producing news or entertainment digital content at a large-scale national\/international level
\nDemonstrated expertise in the technical aspects of the VR production process, including but not limited to: 360-degree cameras, stitching, editing, spatial audio, motion graphics, etc.
\nDemonstrated VR storytelling experience and an intuition for the types of stories that work well in VR
\nAn understanding of the quickly evolving VR landscape, and a passion for discovering and realizing new story possibilities in VR
\nClear news judgment and strong writing skills<\/p>\n
Preferred skills:
\nExperience with interactive storytelling and understanding of the capabilities of game engines such as Unity and Unreal
\nConfident collaborator
