The Digital MakerLab programs will have a heavy focus on computer-based<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>programming. The Coordinator identifies, develops, and teaches program content for diverse audiences,<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>trains and mentors other presenters, and collaborates inter-divisionally to promote educational<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>technology programs to a variety of student and adult audiences. The Coordinator of Digital MakerLab<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>programs will report to the Senior Coordinator of MakerLab and Innovation Lab.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>To land this role you must have an insatiable curiosity and knowledge about the ever-converging worlds<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>of science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics, and culture! You love to tinker, create, design,<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>and build. Not only are you knowledgeable about emerging technologies, such as augmented reality,<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>virtual reality, and mobile apps, but also understand how to incorporate these technologies in a<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>MakerLab vision and strategy. You also excel at teaching children, teens, adults and families in an<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>informal setting and already have some experience teaching computer coding, computer programming,<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>and Arduino.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Key Responsibilities:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Lead and assist in the delivery of lab-based technology workshops and establish an environment<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of our<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>audience members.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Collaborate in the research and development of new technology-based programs for school<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>groups, family audiences, and scout groups.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf In consultation with the Senior Coordinator of MakerLab, implement new creative content that<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>bridges emerging technologies with the makerspace movement.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Develop and facilitate teacher professional development workshops for K-12 teachers aligned<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>with the New Jersey State Learning Standards in Science (Next Generation Science Standards).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Oversee equipment, supply inventory, and track budget expenses for programs.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Make recommendations to IT staff for the addition of new software, hardware, and content<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>associated with Digital MakerLab programs.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Collaborate on developing and producing creative solutions that serve to strengthen LSC\u2019s<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>brand, mission, and revenue.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Other duties, as needed<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf In-depth understanding of the creative culture of the Maker movement, including movers and<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>shakers in the science and tech world<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Strong project management and time management skills, including the ability to manage<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>multiple projects simultaneously, delivering on budget and within deadline<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Working knowledge of Google platform, Arduino, and TinkerCad<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Understanding of current trends in educational technology for formal and informal education<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf K-12 curriculum development aligned with New Jersey State Learning Standards in Science (Next<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Generation Science Standards) and International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE)<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Standards<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Understanding of emerging technologies, such as augmented and virtual reality systems, Auto<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Desk, Arduino, 3D printing software, and various programming languages.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Hobbyist of tinkering, computer programming and robotics.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Competence in HTML\/CSS, Java, JavaScript, C++, Python<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Preferred Qualifications<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Bachelor\u2019s degree in computer science and\/or education<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Experience in creating a fun and engaging environment to students and various audiences<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Minimum of three years of teaching experience in an informal or formal setting<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Experience in curriculum development<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Preferred Professional Experience<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf 1+ years of experience with augmented\/virtual reality and Occulus Rift technology<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf 2+ years of experience developing and implementing teacher professional development<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>programs<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Experience in Minecraft and similar sandbox-based computer games<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u25cf Familiarity with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, HTC Vive, and Lego Mindstorms<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Schedule<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Coordinator of Digital MakerLab must be available to work either Saturday or Sunday and<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>occasionally in the evenings.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Travel<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This position might require travel within the Tri-state region.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Work Environment<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Liberty Science Center is located in a beautiful state park in Jersey City, New Jersey, with easy access to<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>free parking, the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, and the NJ Path train.
