JOB TITLE: Education Fellow<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
REPORTS TO: Director of Education<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
JOB SUMMARY: Creating and teaching interactive media requires curiosity and a willingness to dive<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
into something new and unfamiliar. That is why CPBN is seeking an enterprising Education Fellow to<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
foster intellectual curiosity in the public media landscape. The Education Fellow is responsible for training<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
students, creating inspirational content, further developing our new program for digital education and news<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
literacy and providing support for station media based assignments to engage learners of all ages.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
As an Education Fellow, you will have an opportunity to help scale the Thinkalong program and bring the<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
power of public media to schools across the state. It will be your job to develop relationships with teachers<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
and to drive initiatives to inspire young minds to think critically, attain media literacy, and participate in<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
debate.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
As an Education Fellow, you will provide technical and editorial support to students in a learning<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
environment. Your role will support the professional development of students, teachers, adult learners and<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
veterans\u2014in digital arts, video production, radio broadcast, media content and design and the art of debate.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Education Fellow will provide technical and editorial instructional support, develop strong working<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
relationships with students, provide solid leadership, contribute to a positive learning culture, and assist<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
students both in and out of the classroom.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Candidates must be interested in their own professional development and have the ability to communicate<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
effectively with associated administrators, students, family members and staff.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Coaching and training students in multimedia production with a focus on video production and editing<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Contribute to the development and implementation of multimedia curriculum<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Serve on CPBN production team to participate in various multimedia projects<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Communicate responsibly with students, families, CPBN staff and community partners<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Encourage active and positive learning in a classroom environment<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Instruct students in an ethical and professional manner<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Provide special events coverage to include set design, lighting, audio\/video recording and assisting with<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
room setup and breakdown<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Follow equipment maintenance and inspection guidelines<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop marketing messages for the Learning Lab<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Develop original news stories as well as content curation varying audiences<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Assist with the buildout of Thinkalong for middle school students in CT<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Community and educational engagement to promote and market Thinkalong to CT middle schools<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Showcase Learning Lab student work<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Participate in digital content and social media best practices and submissions<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Other duties as assigned<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree in multimedia, broadcasting, or journalism, with at least two years media creation<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
experience in education, training, broadcasting and\/or video production preferred<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Strong operational knowledge of Adobe\u00a9 Creative Suite a must, Avid Pro Tools, Broadcast Pix and Ross<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
video switchers, PreSonus StudioLive audio boards, Panasonic GH4 cameras, Sony EX-3 cameras,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Panasonic HM150 cameras, iMac, MacMini, and MacPro computers highly preferred<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Exceptional written and oral communications abilities, particularly research, editing and presentation<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
skills, in order to present complex ideas clearly<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Self-starter with the willingness to learn is a must<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Strong organizational and project management skills<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Ability to develop and implement innovative curricula<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Understanding of in-studio and on-remote television, radio and web production and distribution preferred<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Ability to maintain accurate documentation for student attendance, academic records and grant reports<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Interest in providing direction, leadership and guidance to students<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
