We are building a small team to work over an 8-week period this summer. In partnership with the NYC Media Lab and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.charter.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Charter Spectrum<\/a>, we are devoted to exploring universal design and access in the area of \u00a0home entertainment, specifically content consumption from a cable TV set-top box. We are seeking a team that possess a willingness to experiment through a rapid prototyping process, while relaying project progress with NYC Media Lab and Charter Spectrum. Time commitment negotiable and salary commensurate to experience.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Team Needs<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1)<u> UXD (Undergrad IDM)<\/u><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"gmail_quote\"><p>Description: This student User Experience Designer will work with the whole team and deliver designs and mockups, as well as engage in user testing. This position is suited for someone with experience doing UX, or who has taken UXD with Dana or Domenick and shows an interest in human centered design.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">2) <u>IXD (TWO 2nd year Graduate students or recent grads from ITP, IDM)<\/u><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"gmail_quote\"><p>IXD A Description: This position is for a Research Lead. Research lead is required to inquire into relevant \u00a0software, hardware and policy, as well as, design research on captioning and audio description for universal design. One expected deliverable of this project will \u00a0be a white paper on access in the area of home entertainment, written with the Project Coordinator).<br \/>\nIXD B Description: This position is for an Interaction Design Lead. This lead will engage in usability research and interaction design with the team and deliver documentation and prototypes. It is key that this lead develop a thorough understanding of the client and end-user\u2019s accessibility needs and coordinate with them to test designs.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">3) <u>Engineering undergrad (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering)<\/u><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"gmail_quote\"><p>Description: This student will work directly with the IXD B lead to build out prototypes for usability research.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">4) <u>OT (Graduate Student)<\/u><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"gmail_quote\"><p>Description: \u00a0This clinical consultant will author a \u00a0white paper on access in the area of \u00a0home entertainment in collaboration with Research Lead and the Project Manager.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">(Project Manager- Claire Kearney-Volpe (NYU Ability Project) to oversee and coordinate research and development efforts.
