Founded in 2006, NYDesigns is an incubator of LaGuardia Community College \/ CUNY<\/div>\n

dedicated to the success of design and hardware tech startups in NYC. Companies in<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
our incubator get three years of private studio space and access to a network of<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
mentors and advisers. Makers can prototype their design ideas in our 5,000-sq-ft<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
fabrication lab. We produce events and programs for a thriving community of<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
creators and innovators.<\/div>\n

NYDesigns seeks an Assistant Director to manage a diverse and dynamic team of<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
professionals and supervise daily operations. You will be a critical member of our leadership<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
team to ensure we provide entrepreneurs, makers and students with the most relevant and<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
impactful programming and support. You are well-versed in performance and operations<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
management and deeply networked in the entrepreneurship, design and technology<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
communities in NYC.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Responsibilities<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Leadership<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Manage staff to support high performance in alignment with the strategic goals.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Develop collaborative opportunities within the college community, both with<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
workforce development programs and with credit degrees, in alignment with the<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
activities and mission of NYDesigns.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Represent and support the director in external events and partnerships,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
strengthening the incubator\u2019s profile with the entrepreneurship, tech and design<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
communities in NYC.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Operations Management<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Work with the director to coordinate and supervise daily operations, ensuring<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
compliance with regulations and internal policies.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Assist in the budgeting and monitoring of revenues and expenses on a monthly basis.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Oversee all external communications, within the college, with partners, and with the<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
public in general. Interface with marketing and PR agencies and consultants.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Planning and strategy<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Assist in developing and implementing plans and goals for the department,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
performance benchmarks and cultivates a data-driven culture of outcomes<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
measurement as part of the strategic planning process<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Develops funding proposals; solicits grant information and provides leadership and<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
guidance in partnering with community and governmental agencies.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Human Resources<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Monitor staff attendance and HR budgets.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Coordinate hiring of staff and contractors.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Support staff training and evaluation on a regular basis.<\/div>\n

Qualifications<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Supervisory experience of at least 3 years<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Familiar with the entrepreneurship, innovation, design and tech ecosystems in NYC<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Excellent organizational and leadership skills<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Outstanding communication and public speaking skills<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Grant writing and management experience preferred<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Proficient in MS Office and Google apps, relational databases and software (e.g. ERP<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
and CRM)<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 BA\/BS in business administration or related field; MA\/MS\/MBA preferred<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Position Details<\/div>\n

This is a full-time position with an excellent benefits package. Salary commensurate<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
with experience. The position is based at NYDesigns at LaGuardia Community College<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
in Long Island City, Queens.<\/div>\n
