If you have questions, please email Adena Dershowitz at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:adershowitz@lfny.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">adershowitz@lfny.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Computer Science Teacher (Secondary School)<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Lyc\u00e9e Fran\u00e7ais de New York<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Reports to: Director of Digital Learning<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Start Date: August 21, 2017<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Purpose:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Lyc\u00e9e Fran\u00e7ais is expanding its computer science program to support the teaching of problem-solving skills and computational thinking skills, as well as offering programming courses and interdisciplinary project-based courses. \u00a0The computer science teacher will guide the process of building curricula, teaching courses, and providing feedback for future directions of the program.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Teaching middle school mandatory computer science courses<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Teaching high school elective courses<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Serving as an advisor for 8-12 students<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Leading after-school activities in the area of computer science<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Working closely with the math department to explore elements of the French math curriculum that focus on computer science skills<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Collaborating with the maker integrator to develop ties among computer science, fabrication, and engineering.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Chief Personal Characteristics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Excellent classroom dynamic<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Strong interpersonal skills<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ability and desire to work in a team environment<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Flexibility and adaptability, sensitivity to working in a multicultural community<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Professional, gracious attitude at all times<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Excellent written and spoken communication skills (with fluency in French and English preferred)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Motivation for learning through professional development and certification training as required by the school \u00a0and self-identified<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Certification and Experience Requirements<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Experience teaching computer science across many age groups<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Coding expertise in multiple languages (Java, C++, Python, Swift, etc.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Knowledge of the French and American educational systems preferred<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Bachelor&#8217;s degree required; advanced degrees in a relevant field will also be taken into consideration<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Applications must be submitted online by using the link provided, and any required supporting documentation (cover letter and resume) must be uploaded \u00a0via the <a href=\"https:\/\/app.smartsheet.com\/b\/form?EQBCT=d2e1fabe10f949679b9b944b6f55fe06\">application form<\/a>.
