Paid Python Programming Internship<\/div>\n

Overview<\/div>\n

The Jain Family Institute is seeking an intern, in college or early graduate school,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
to contribute to the development and launch of a prototype product for our<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
current projects on mass digitization and digital curation. The ideal candidate has<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
a wide-ranging curiosity, particular interest in topic modeling and relationship<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
mining, and substantial experience programming in Python. She or he will be<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
joining a small team of generalist-practitioners with backgrounds in philosophy,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
physics, engineering, and data science working on mapping research ecologies as<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
represented in online articles and blogs.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The internship carries a stipend of $5,000 for approximately 15 hours per week<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n

Selected candidates will be invited to an in-person interview in our Manhattan<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
office in late June.<\/div>\n

The preferred due date is June 16th, after which we will accept applications on a<\/div>\n

rolling basis.<\/div>\n

Responsibilities \u2022 Time commitment: approximately 15 hours a week<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Attendance: one to two times weekly, at meetings in our Upper East Side<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
office<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Tasks:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
o assisting with the development and implementation of scraping<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
and classification systems;<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
o experimenting with and implementing various approaches to<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
topic modeling, including LDA and distributional clustering;<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
o exploring graphical representations of topic clusters and citation<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
networks;<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Required Skills and Qualifications \u2022 Familiarity with Python, including data science packages<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022 Excellent analytic or quantitative skills; strong communication<\/div>\n
