This position is a key member of the OGS Communications team.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The time commitment is 20 hours per week. Hours worked would need to be within regular office hours (<span class=\"gmail-aBn\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"gmail-aQJ\">Monday<\/span><\/span> \u2013 <span class=\"gmail-aBn\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"gmail-aQJ\">Friday<\/span><\/span> from <span class=\"gmail-aBn\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"gmail-aQJ\">9:00 a.m. \u2013 5:00 p.m.<\/span><\/span>). Availability to work during university breaks is preferred. Salary is $18\/hour. You must be a full-time student at NYU to be considered for this position.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Graphic Design<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Conceptualize and design publications, advertisements, logos, signage, posters, and web content using desktop publishing software programs<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Design layout and produce color comps and dummies of designs, illustrations, and photography.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Prepare camera-ready mechanicals, art-work and completed publications, including color mark-up for printing, photography sizing and retouching<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ensure final products maintain consistent look and quality of NYU and OGS brand<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Solicit vendor bids for print jobs, negotiate costs, and determine which vendors to use; manage quality and delivery of vendor services; monitor deadlines<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Review proofs with Assistant Director of Communications and incorporate changes into final layout<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Web and Visual Design<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Perform CMS web updates<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Implement designs through CMS, front end development, Adobe CS6 and other software<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Analyze content and information architecture to improve navigation structure<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Keep current on desktop publishing and design techniques; read industry publications and develop skills to utilize emerging software; make recommendations to Assistant Director of Communications for purchase of new equipment or software programs<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Keep current on emerging technologies to adjust to needed technologies within office<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Design data visualizations using D3JS, TileMill and other technology as needed<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Independently complete special projects and feature additions<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">User Experience Design<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Observe monthly office online user testing and implement changes based on results. Aide office in hosting user testings<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Collaborate with UX designer and researcher to create interaction design deliverables such as process flows, wireframes, annotations and prototypes for web, big screen displays, kiosk and other interfaces.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Access existing data and find ways to share them with appropriate audiences in more delightful and informative ways<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Our dream intern has a combination of these qualities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Curious about and passionate for the user, someone who knows the importance of user experience design<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Handles multiple tasks, switches priorities and focuses as needed<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Outgoing, with a great sense of humor and positive attitude<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Rapid adopter of new technologies and tools<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Experience with desktop and web publishing applications such as Dreamweaver, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Experience with html, css, javascript<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Web video skills such as \u00a0iMovie, Final Cut, or Adobe Premiere experience a plus<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Comfortable receiving tasks and feedback<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Actively takes initiative on independent and team projects<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Effective at articulating ideas and communicating needs<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Reliable&#8211;you come to work when your calendar says you will<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To apply send a cover letter, resume, and samples of your work to Melissa Zuroff, Assistant Director of Communications at <a href=\"mailto:melissa.zuroff@nyu.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">melissa.zuroff@nyu.edu<\/a>.
