The Program Coordinator & Studio Manager works in close collaboration with Michael Mandiberg to support the New York Arts Practicum, and the artist’s work. This position is the primary administrator for the New York Arts Practicum, an eight-week summer residency program founded and directed by Mandiberg. This position also manages the artist’s correspondence, grant writing, logistics related to upcoming exhibitions and artwork production, and other administrative tasks. This is a real opportunity to work in a supportive environment with an artist known for pedagogy and mentorship. This has been a mutually beneficial working relationship with those who have held this position previously.<\/div>\n

Hours:<\/div>\n
This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule, averaging 15 hours per week. It requires one weekday in person per week, with the remainder flexible between remote and\/or in person. Studio is located at EFA in the Garment District. Candidate must be available in New York in late spring and summer to oversee the Practicum.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Primary responsibilities:<\/div>\n
New York Arts Practicum: provides support for the program\u2019s director, applicants\/participants, mentors and visiting artists. Duties include:<\/div>\n
– scheduling and planning the eight-week program calendar<\/div>\n
– managing logistics for meetings and program events<\/div>\n
– drafting and sending all program-related correspondence including email outreach to universities<\/div>\n
– responding to applicant and participant inquiries<\/div>\n
– overseeing the online application process<\/div>\n
– managing participants Tuition Work Exchange progress<\/div>\n
– maintaining program budget, honorarium payments and tracking program expenses<\/div>\n
– organizing and updating forms, paperwork, contracts and insurance<\/div>\n
– acting as the main point of contact\/liaison between mentor artists and their mentees<\/div>\n
– facilitating and leading selected site visits, seminars, and special events during the program<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Michael Mandiberg’s Studio: handles all logistics and administrative duties related to the artist’s studio practice. Duties include:<\/div>\n
– drafting and sending correspondence with curators, arts organizations, and galleries<\/div>\n
– writing and submitting grant proposals and residency applications<\/div>\n
– organizing artist’s quarterly budget and expenses, including keeping track of receipts and reimbursements<\/div>\n
– managing logistics of artistic production and project management related to exhibitions<\/div>\n
– keeping track of image files, paperwork, and documentation<\/div>\n
– helping with exhibition installation and event planning when necessary<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Candidates must be:<\/div>\n
– knowledgeable about contemporary art and art worlds<\/div>\n
– highly organized and detail-oriented, with ability to take initiative and work independently<\/div>\n
– able to develop and maintain clear systems for storing and disseminating information<\/div>\n
– able to plan and stick to deadlines<\/div>\n
– relentless and exacting emailing skills<\/div>\n
– clear writers in a style suitable for both email communication and web content<\/div>\n
– experienced in grant and proposal writing<\/div>\n
– clear communicators<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Skills that are not required, but are a plus, include:<\/div>\n
– knowledge of pedagogy and alternative education and\/or teaching experience<\/div>\n
– skills in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and InDesign<\/div>\n
– experience with web content management systems (WordPress, Drupal, etc)<\/div>\n
– experience writing press releases and web content<\/div>\n
– Project Management experience (Trello\/Basecamp)<\/div>\n
– CRM experience<\/div>\n
