BCAT is a program of BRIC Arts | Media |<br \/>\nBrooklyn, a multi-disciplinary arts and media<br \/>\nnon-profit, dedicated to presenting visual, performing<br \/>\nand media arts programs that are reflective of<br \/>\nBrooklyn&#8217;s diverse communities and to providing<br \/>\nresources and platforms to support the creative<br \/>\nprocess.<\/p>\n<p>BCAT provides low cost media education training in all<br \/>\naspects of television production for Brooklyn<br \/>\nresidents through its Center for Media Education (CME)<br \/>\nprogram; operates three channels of cable television<br \/>\nfor use by the public to create and present programs<br \/>\nof community interest (Brooklyn Free Speech TV);<br \/>\nproduces programs of interest to Brooklyn residents<br \/>\n(Brooklyn Independent Television); and operates a<br \/>\ncommunity bulletin board on a fourth cable television<br \/>\nchannel (Brooklyn Bulletin Board TV). Employees often<br \/>\nperform their duties in a mentoring capacity,<br \/>\nconsistent with BCAT&#8217;s role as an educational<br \/>\nfacility. The community services and programs provided<br \/>\nby BCAT make a key contribution to the mission of BRIC<br \/>\nArts | Media | Brooklyn.<\/p>\n<p>Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations<br \/>\nAssistant is part of a team that provides support to<br \/>\nBCAT facilities, personnel and community producers.<br \/>\nThis position is part of the NABET-CWA collective<br \/>\nbargaining unit at BCAT.<\/p>\n<p>Duties include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n<p>Office Management: ordering and organizing office and<br \/>\nproduction supplies, monitoring physical plant and<br \/>\noffice equipment, arranging for cleaning and repairs,<br \/>\ndistributing and sending mail.<br \/>\nFloater: assist in Public Equipment room, which loans<br \/>\ntelevision equipment to community producers, Master<br \/>\nControl, the control room for station programming, on<br \/>\ntelevision shoots, and in other aspects of station<br \/>\noperations.<br \/>\nEducation Program Administration: process paperwork<br \/>\nfor students enrolled in television production<br \/>\nclasses; assist with registration and orientation;<br \/>\nmake database entries; help students comply with<br \/>\nstation requirements.<br \/>\nCommunications: act as the point person to answer<br \/>\nqueries from the public regarding BCAT education<br \/>\nprograms, internships and programming.<br \/>\nThe ideal candidate will possess an associate degree<br \/>\nor better in media production; have exceptional<br \/>\ninterpersonal skills; be highly organized and detail<br \/>\noriented; have at least two years of experience<br \/>\nworking with digital video cameras and non-linear<br \/>\nediting programs (Avid Xpress Pro preferred); and be<br \/>\ncomfortable working in a professional television<br \/>\nstudio and control room.
