Founded by the<br \/>\nNew Museum in 2014 and now in its fourth year of operations, NEW INC offers a<br \/>\nshared workspace and professional development program designed to support an<br \/>\ninterdisciplinary community of 100 creatives as they investigate new ideas and develop<br \/>\nsustainable business models.<br \/>\nThe Tech &amp; Facilities Manager is a dynamic, hands-on role overseeing NEW INC\u2019s<br \/>\n4,000 sq. ft. maker space, its fabrication and A\/V equipment, and 8,000 sq. ft. coworking<br \/>\nfacility. We are seeking a talented, energetic and creative technologist with a strong<br \/>\ngrasp of both digital fabrication tools (software and hardware) and a working knowledge<br \/>\nof common A\/V and IT technology and best practices. The position will report to NEW<br \/>\nINC\u2019s Director and be responsible for the development, upkeep, and maintenance of all<br \/>\ntech equipment, as well as maintaining and enforcing safety protocols, leading<br \/>\nequipment trainings, assisting members with troubleshooting and technical issues,<br \/>\npurchasing supplies and materials, and liaising with vendors or contractors. We are<br \/>\nlooking to grow our fabrication resources and technology expertise and this position will<br \/>\nplay a pivotal role in helping to define opportunities for growth and development of our<br \/>\nmaker space, assisting the Director in pursuing partnerships with equipment<br \/>\nmanufacturers, suppliers, and other fabrication shops in New York City.<br \/>\nThe position requires a candidate with meticulous organizational skills and attention to<br \/>\ndetail, excellent problem-solving skills, an efficient and systems-oriented work style, and<br \/>\ngreat customer service. A keen ability to pick up new skills and technical competencies<br \/>\nand a passion for teaching and helping others is paramount. The ideal candidate will be<br \/>\na proactive self-starter able to juggle several projects and tasks simultaneously,<br \/>\npropose opportunities for improvement and systems optimization, and anticipate<br \/>\nproblems before they arise.<br \/>\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES<br \/>\n\u2022 Oversees all daily facilities operations including cleanliness, repairs, security<br \/>\naccessibility, and IT, working with the Head of Operations and relevant New<br \/>\nMuseum departments to address any larger adjustments or concerns on a rolling<\/p>\n<p>basis. This includes but is not limited to: Wi-Fi and accessibility, hardware,<br \/>\nmaintenance, replenishment of supplies, and space additions.<br \/>\n\u2022 Oversees the maintenance, access, and safe usage of all digital, fabrication and<br \/>\nA\/V equipment at NEW INC including: 3D printers, laser cutter, desktop CNC,<br \/>\nSLR cameras, large format printers, projectors, computers, associated software<br \/>\nand any other equipment that may be added in the future.<br \/>\n\u2022 Develops and leads equipment training programs and workshops.<br \/>\n\u2022 Supports NEW INC staff and community members with any technical<br \/>\ntroubleshooting on digital or fabrication equipment, as well as standard IT<br \/>\nquestions that may arise, such as Wi-Fi connectivity or printer set-up.<br \/>\n\u2022 Maintains a well-organized inventory of all accompanying supplies, cables,<br \/>\nmaterials, tools, files, data, or other relevant material associated with the<br \/>\nproductive use of equipment and facilities.<br \/>\n\u2022 Supports technology needs for all NEW INC events, including professional<br \/>\ndevelopment seminars, workshops, Demo Day, public programs and<br \/>\nconferences, and off-site retreat.<br \/>\n\u2022 Manages maintenance contracts, maintenance routines and maintenance best<br \/>\npractices for all equipment.<br \/>\n\u2022 Works with the Director to identify potential equipment partners or sponsors to<br \/>\nincrease or update existing equipment resources.<br \/>\nREQUIREMENTS<br \/>\n\u2022 At minimum must hold a Bachelor\u2019s Degree or equivalent work experience in a<br \/>\nrelated industry.<br \/>\n\u2022 3-5 years professional experience as a studio manager, fabrication assistant,<br \/>\nshop manager, IT, architect or product designer, art handler, or other relevant<br \/>\nindustry.<br \/>\n\u2022 Proficiency in Operating Systems like Windows, Mac &amp; Unix, design software<br \/>\n(Rhino, Grasshopper, AutoCAD, etc.), and programming languages is desirable.<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience with any of the following fabrication technologies: 3D Printing, 3D<br \/>\nScanning, Laser Cutting, CNC Routing, Electronics, Molding and casting is<br \/>\ndesirable.<br \/>\n\u2022 Knowledge of safe work practices for digital fabrication and OSHA Safe<br \/>\nOperating Guidelines.<br \/>\n\u2022 Must have a commitment to high standards of execution while meeting deadlines<br \/>\nand juggling several tasks simultaneously.<br \/>\n\u2022 Excellent verbal, written and communication skills, as well as a passion for<br \/>\nteaching and helping others.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Resilient, hands-on and pro-active.<br \/>\n\u2022 Results oriented, able to understand job requirements and provide solutions<br \/>\nunder budgetary constraints.<br \/>\n\u2022 Self-motivated, able to work independently, manage time and hit deadlines with<br \/>\ncalmness under pressure.<br \/>\n\u2022 Nimble, comfortable and excited to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented<br \/>\norganizational setting.<br \/>\n\u2022 Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service mentality oriented towards<br \/>\nhelping our community members in a timely and friendly manner.<br \/>\nThere are many exciting benefits to working at the New Museum, one of the most<br \/>\ncutting-edge contemporary art institutions in the world.
