Description:The National Campaign to Restore Civil Rights (NCRCR) is a collection of m=
\nore than one hundred civil rights organizations and advocates working to ens=
\nure that the courts protect and preserve justice, fairness, and opportunity =
\nfor everyone. NCRCR focuses on public education and outreach, finding ways t=
\no get the message out about the impact of court rulings on our communities, =
\nour opportunities and our rights.<\/p>\n
Currently, NCRCR seeks an intern to assist with the generation and mana=
\ngement of Campaign content. The intern will work with the NCRCR Web Coordina=
\ntor on developing the Campaign=92s website, new media materials, and associa=
\nted new media properties.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities may include:<\/p>\n
=95 Generating fresh content on th=
\ne Campaign=92s website and blog.
=95 Updating fact sheets and key content=
\n about the broad range of issues and communities affected by the rollback of=
\n civil rights: racial justice, disability rights, women's rights, access=
\n to health care, environmental justice, etc.
\n=95 Helping the media coordinator perform outreach to relevant partner orga=
\nnizations
=95 Researching and publishing links to good local and national=
\n news articles that illustrate the rollback.
=95 Working with website pro=
\nducer to help make current, past, and upcoming court cases, legal issues and=
\n events accessible to the general public.
\n=95 Maintaining a calendar and list of speakers on a broad range of issues =
\nincluding racial justice, disability rights, women's rights, access to h=
\nealth care, environmental justice, LGBT, etc.
=95 Assisting in the furthe=
\nr development of "human stories" =96 compelling and moving audio\/v=
\nideo stories about real people impacted by the rollback of civil rights.
\n=95 Creative collaboration on capturing, editing, and packaging audio and v=
\nideo.<\/p>\n
Candidates should:<\/p>\n
=95 Have proven excellent oral and wr=
\nitten communications skills.
=95 Be able to write about complex concepts =
\nin everyday English.
\n=95 Be able to work collaboratively and independently.
=95 Be able to wo=
\nrk professionally with organizations and individuals across the country from=
\n many different backgrounds.
=95 Be organized with sharp attention to det=
\nail.
\n=95 Be computer proficient and have basic knowledge of HTML.
=95 Prior e=
\nxperience with audio recording\/editing, digital video recording, and digital=
\n video editing a plus.
=95 Second language a plus.
=95 Be enthusiastic=
\n, have a good sense of humor and interest in civil rights and social
\njustice.<\/p>\n
This internship is a minimum of 10-15 hours per week, slate=
\nd to begin in September and continue through December (this position could p=
\nossibly extend longer). This is a great opportunity for someone studying med=
\nia, communications or writing\/journalism and seeking a career in social just=
\nice. This position offers hands-on media and web-publishing experience.<\/p>\n
The internship will be supervised by and housed within New York Lawyers=
\n for the Public Interest in New York City.
