\nDevelopment Apprentice<\/p>\n
Job\/Internship Description:
\nA development apprenticeship with our team is an opportunity to grow
\nyour expertise in creating public services to help improve the lives
\nof millions of New Yorkers. We are currently seeking individuals with
\nan interest in building optimal user experience, coding business logic
\nand designing robust enterprise applications.<\/p>\n
Apprenticeships are paid by the hour, part-time or full-time, with a
\nminimum of three days per week. Summer 2018 Apprenticeships will run
\nfrom the beginning of June until the end of August. Projects will
\nfocus on the delivery, on-going success, and continuous improvement of
\ngovernment services.<\/p>\n
If an internship, what specifically will an ITP student learn?:
\nBased on your skills and interests, responsibilities will include some
\nbut not all of the below:<\/p>\n
Help build a pattern library that can be used across the digital
\nproducts.<\/p>\n
Prototype and test new product functionalities and enhancements with
\nthe staff developers, product managers, and designers.<\/p>\n
Help build automated front-end and back-end testing scripts to ensure
\napplication functionality.<\/p>\n
Help manage and enhance the back-end rules engine that powers the
\nACCESS NYC benefit eligibility application.<\/p>\n
Assist in migrating an enterprise application from on-premise to cloud
\nenvironment.<\/p>\n
Required Skills:
\nBasic knowledge of HTML\/CSS and JavaScript and\/or server-side
\nprogramming language like Java, C#, .NET, Ruby, Python, PHP.<\/p>\n
Familiarity with Content Management Systems like WordPress, Drupal,
\netc.<\/p>\n
Experience with relational databases and SQL queries.<\/p>\n
Experience with Git, Github or other versioning systems.<\/p>\n
Experience with development methodologies like Agile, SCRUM,
\nWaterfall, etc.<\/p>\n
Interest and\/or experience working with open source community.<\/p>\n
