Initially, the focus of our work will be on creating designs that r=
\neveal the domestic environment both as a source of aesthetic and conceptual =
\nappreciation and as relevant to matters of global ecology. We anticipate usi=
\nng wirelessly networked microcomputers, sensors and outputs to create device=
\ns that measure and transmit information about their local environment. We ex=
\npect a core feature of our designs to involve a variety of mechanical extens=
\nions of the sensors to make them understandable and appealing. Our prototype=
\ns will be batch-produced and distributed to large numbers of volunteers who =
\nwill live with them for weeks or months. All members of the studio will play=
\n an active role in designing and implementing research materials, proposals =
\nand presentations, as well as the field research and its presentation. Oppor=
\ntunities may also arise to become involved in other studio projects on an ad=
\n hoc basis.<\/p>\n
\n
<\/div>\n
DESIGN RESEARCH ASS=
\nISTANT (3 days a week)We are looking for a designer w=
\nho can help us create exciting and poetic applications of ubiquitous computi=
\nng technology.
