ISAW is a center for advanced scholarly research and graduate
\neducation, intended to cultivate comparative and connective
\ninvestigations of the ancient world from the western Mediterranean to
\nChina, open to the integration of every category of evidence and
\nrelevant method of analysis. It will feature doctoral and
\npostdoctoral programs, with the aim of training a new generation of
\nscholars who will enter the global academic community and become
\nintellectual leaders. Built around a mix of established and younger
\nscholars, the Institute is designed to make possible concrete
\nprogress in ground-breaking study that would be more difficult within
\nnarrow disciplinary bounds.<\/p>\n
Beginning November 2009, ISAW will be installing its second
\nexhibition entitled The Lost World of Old Europe: The Danube Valley
\n5000-3500 BC, which features prehistoric material from Romania,
\nBulgaria and the Republic of Moldova. The Exhibitions and Public
\nPrograms Department of ISAW is inviting applications from qualified
\nand suitable graduate students for the position of
\nGallery Attendant. We seek three graduate students to work as Gallery
\nAttendants from October 1, 2009 through May 1st, 2010.<\/p>\n
Gallery Attendants will be asked to work 20 hours a week and perform
\na wide variety of educational and gallery duties These include (but
\nare not limited to) conducting specialized tours of the exhibition,
\nhandling all catalogue sales and financial records around these
\nsales, and assisting senior members of the exhibition staff with
\nvarious research and administrative projects.<\/p>\n
Graduate students in the history of art, archaeology, anthropology,
\nand classics are preferred. Museum experience is desirable. Must be
\nwork-study eligible. The position will be paid $17 an hour.
