We advise, assist, and represent<br \/>\nindividuals to minimize evictions, ensure tenants obtain necessary repairs to their apartments,<br \/>\nand guarantee that those who are eligible for crucial public benefits receive them. We combine<br \/>\nlegal services, new media campaigns, and community organizing to advance the movement for<br \/>\neconomic justice, preserve and expand access to social service programs, and ensure government<br \/>\naccountability.<\/p>\n<p>SNP is seeking a Videographer Intern to work as the documenter of our upcoming campaign:<br \/>\nAccessing Justice. SNP\u2019s multi-media campaign seeks to target tenants who are eligible for free<br \/>\nlegal services to inform them of New York City\u2019s new Right to Counsel law, and the benefits of<br \/>\nhaving an attorney represent them. The campaign is organized in partnership with Northeastern<br \/>\nUniversity, JustFix.nyc, and the Right to Counsel Coalition. The Videographer Intern will be<br \/>\njoining this multilateral team to produce meaningful, social justice-oriented digital content to<br \/>\nfurther the campaign\u2019s advocacy goals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><br \/>\nSNP is seeking a Videographer Intern with a high degree of creativity, who will be responsible<br \/>\nfor digital storytelling and managing media production. The videographer will have tasks related<br \/>\nto both production and post-production including footage shooting, assisting with interviews,<br \/>\ntransport, operation of equipment, staging, and preparation. The videographer will work<br \/>\nalongside SNP executives and the rest of the campaign committee to develop content that<br \/>\naccurately and concisely displays the work of the campaign. They may also work alongside the<br \/>\nvideo editor to finalize the finished multimedia presentation. This internship is unpaid, but will<br \/>\nprovide an excellent opportunity to influence the conversation around poverty and the affordable<br \/>\nhousing crisis that affects millions of Americans.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Only candidates with demonstrable experience with professional video documentation will be<br \/>\nconsidered. Candidates who have their own gear and\/or video editing experience will be highly<br \/>\npreferred.<\/p>\n<p>Successful candidates must possess the ability and willingness to learn the basics of the issues<br \/>\npresented: NYC Universal Access to Counsel law, landlord\/tenant practice in New York City,<br \/>\nand the affordable housing crisis. Candidates should possess an aptitude for engaging with a<br \/>\nvariety of people from diverse backgrounds, and a strong desire to work with New Yorkers living in poverty. Applicants must also have knowledge and understanding of how media can be<br \/>\na tool for social change, a commitment to the Safety Net Project\u2019s goal of combating stigma<br \/>\nagainst homeless and low-income people, and a demonstrated commitment to social and racial<br \/>\njustice. Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills are essential. Spanish proficiency is a<br \/>\nplus.<\/p>\n<p>The Safety Net Project is an equal opportunity employer.
