This will require the following activities:<\/p>\n \u2022 Analyse OCHA\u2019s current information products and look how to transform the print materials into digital assets Work Location<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n New York<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span>Expected duration<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n This consultancy is through 31 December 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n Duties and Responsibilities<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n The Design and Multimedia Unit (DMU) of the Strategic Communications Branch (SCB) leads the development of OCHA’s visual information services and products. In particular, the unit provides support in the development of promotional materials for key high-level events. The events the unit is regularly engaged in include: World Humanitarian Day (19 August), the Global Humanitarian Overview (December), the ECOSOC humanitarian affairs segment (June) and other emergency-specific high-level conferences.<\/p>\n We would like to engage the services of a graphic and motion designer to develop animations that will be used to highlight these events via social media as well as projected during the event itself. In The graphic and motion designer will also develop templates and guidelines and provide training so that the social media team can learn to develop their own materials in the future. There are currently no interactive and digital designers in OCHA nor at the United Nations that fit the skills that is required for the position as it a very specialized expertise.<\/p>\n The DMU is working on revamping OCHA’s visual identity in 2018. This will include development of guidelines and training materials for the field colleagues for the visual and reporting materials. The selected candidate will support the development of those materials especially in the areas of digital Qualifications\/special skills<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Academic Qualifications: First level university degree in animation, graphic design, digital, web development or related field. Technical training in Adobe CC suite particularly AfterEffects, Photoshop and Illustrator is desirable.<\/p>\n Experience: A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in animation, interactive design, information and communication technology, social media, or related area. Experience with Adobe software, including Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop is required. Experience with development of templates and guidelines on digital tools is an advantage.<\/p>\n Language: Fluency in English is required (both oral and written). \naddition, the graphic and motion designer will also be responsible for other special animation projects that will highlight emerging and ongoing crises where OCHA is called to operate.<\/p>\n
