\nType<\/strong>: Fulltime, year-round position – 60 hours or more per week (including

\nArtistic Director in the operation, maintenance and technical aspects of the
\nFablab studio, facilities and equipment. This person is responsible for the
\nstewardship of the Fablab studio, maintaining supplies, general upkeep and
\nmaintenance of the facilities; in addition to providing technical assistance to
\nresidents, visiting artists, summer faculty, and students. The Fablab is a studio
\nfacility shared across the Ranch, and supports all disciplines working in digital
\nfabrication. This position is a year-round, full-time position, approximately 40
\nhours per week from October through mid-May and 60 plus hours per week from
\nmid-May through September.<\/p>\n
\n\u25cf Oversee and maintain all technical aspects including software programing
\nand hardware (machinery) in the Fablab and Sculpture program.
\n\u25cf Have a working knowledge of fabrication equipment in the studios such as
\nvinyl cutter, plotter, laser cutter, CNC mill, plasma cutter and Makerbots.
\n\u25cf Management of day-to-day maintenance of studio building and facilities,
\nsuch as cleaning, custodial duties, heating, plumbing and mechanical
\nneeds.
\n\u25cf In collaboration with the Artistic Director; order, design and install major
\nand minor equipment, oversee the safety of studio facilities including first
\naid supplies, maintain the fire alarm systems with regular inspections.<\/p>\n
\nRanch projects as needed, serving all departments.
\n\u25cf Assist with summer and non-summer workshops, work with Artistic
\nDirector to manage supply lists, order supplies and assist in the
\ncoordination of departmental workshops.
\n\u25cf Train and supervise interns consistent with Ranch policies.
\n\u25cf Participate in all staff, art team and departmental meetings.
\n\u25cf Provide technical support and assistance to residents and visiting artists
\nand Artistic Directors.
\n\u25cf Support Ranch outreach activities and educational programs when
\nnecessary.
\n\u25cf Participate in Ranch special events.
\n\u25cf Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
\n\u25cf Embrace stewardship of the Fablab with a positive and flexible attitude.
\n\u25cf A performance review after 3 months, job progression is conditional.<\/p>\n
\n\u25cf Bachelor\u2019s Degree
\n\u25cf 2-3 years of experience in a similar position
\n\u25cf Candidates must have a working knowledge of contemporary digital and
\ntraditional fabrication techniques.
\n\u25cf Ability to maintain the Fablab facilities and make repairs to machinery and
\nequipment.
\n\u25cf Knowledge of different software packages needed for digital fabrication
\nand 3D printing. Desired experience includes working with software like
\nRhino, Sketchup and Illustrator.
\n\u25cf Have exceptional organizational skills and ability to multitask, and the
\nability to troubleshoot.
\n\u25cf Ability to take initiative; seek and accept guidance and supervision as
\nneeded.
\n\u25cf Ability to establish priorities, respond to unanticipated needs and work
\nunder pressure.
\n\u25cf Comfortable providing instruction to small groups or tutoring one-on-one.
\n\u25cf Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others.
\n\u25cf Ability to work in a team and be part of a community.
\n\u25cf Willingness to undergo training and professional development.<\/p>\n
