MEDIA EDUCATION MANAGER<\/b><\/p>\n
The Media Education Manager coordinates and provides intellectual and administrative support and oversight for the department\u2019s informal learning programs including, but not limited to youth programs, family programs, summer classes and collaborative partnerships. The Media Education Manager collaborates with the Deputy Director for Education & Community Engagement and the School & Community Programs Manager on the content, design, and implementation of media curriculum that builds upon the museum\u2019s collections and exhibitions, facilitating access and relevancy for diverse local and international communities. This is a full-time exempt position. The Media Education Manager reports to the Deputy Director for Education & Community Engagement.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities include:<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Oversee design, content development and implementation of media curriculum, including digital media production, new media projects, digital game design, animation, interactive media, transmedia storytelling, and other subjects using the creative technologies<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Oversee all aspects of program planning, management, administrative coordination, documentation, instructor support, outreach, audience development, equipment needs and evaluation of the Museum\u2019s youth, family, and adult education initiatives<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Curate a series of age appropriate educational films and events in collaboration with museum departments<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Coordinate partnerships and collaborations with outside organizations, such as schools, internship programs, neighborhood organizations, and colleague institutions<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Collaborate with other members of the Education Department to develop ongoing programmatic strategy and to assist in the development and implementation of new education programs, including but not limited to specialized family and youth workshops, and gallery activities relating to permanent and special exhibitions;<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Collaborate with Deputy Director for Education & Community Engagement and the Museum\u2019s Development Department to create and execute a fundraising strategy to support programmatic initiatives.<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Plan and coordinate professional development for NYC teachers and school administrators; enhancing existing programs and developing new curriculum<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Act as lead mentor for Teen Council and Summer Youth Internship Program<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Oversee planning, management, assessment, and curriculum development for Summer Media Camps, Family Drop-in program Moving Image Studio, Teen Council, Teen Digital Media Lab, MoMI birthday parties, Masterclass series, and other similar programs<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Assist in the hiring, training, and weekly scheduling of part-time and contract educators, instructors, and other staff<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n
Qualifications<\/b>:<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Professional background in media production and education preferred; including experience teaching a range of moving image technologies (analog and digital) Undergraduate degree or work in media studies, new media, interactive technologies, education, film studies, video game design, video art or related field.<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Previous experience working with young people in a museum and school setting as a lead educator; 5 or more years preferred.<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Previous experience with designing and implementing curriculum for tech-based and inquiry-based learning with diverse urban populations<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0A friendly, courteous, and visitor-focused demeanor.<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Leadership experience in digital education and\/or digital media production settings preferred.<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Written and spoken fluency in Spanish, Arabic and\/or Bengali is a plus.<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Available to work weekends and some weekdays.<\/p>\n
