My name is Rachel, and I\u2019m the Executive Director of Coding it Forward. We\u2019re a nonprofit that is empowering students to use their skills for social good.<\/p>\n

I wanted to let you know that applications for the\u00a02019 Civic Digital Fellowship<\/a>\u00a0are live, and would love for you to share the news with your\u00a0NYU\u00a0students. Fellows\u2014based on their backgrounds\u2014will tackle UX\/UI, product design, visual design, or service design projects that affect millions of people across the country.<\/p>\n

The Civic Digital Fellowship is looking for impact-driven\u00a0designers<\/strong>\u00a0to modernize technology inside federal agencies\u2014including the\u00a0Departments of Veterans Affairs<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Health and Human Services<\/strong>!\u00a0\u00a0Applications<\/a>\u00a0are due on January 5th at 11:59pm PST.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Fellows at the Department of Veterans Affairs or the Department of Health and Human Services will tackle UX\/UI, product design, visual design, or service design projects. Design Fellows will have the opportunity to practice human-centered design by conducting user research, user and usability testing, and prototyping\u2014all of which\u00a0make government services more accessible for everyday Americans.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For example, last summer, two students worked with Veterans Affairs to improve the usability of the G.I. Bill Complaint Tool to help veterans receive access to their education benefits. All past Fellowship projects are on\u00a0GitHub<\/a>.<\/p>\n
