He or she will oversee proje=<br \/>\nct timelines,<br \/> budget, program and materials development; hire and manage=<br \/>\n contract<br \/> staff as necessary including scientists, teacher-contributors,=<br \/>\n<br \/> freelance writers and expert reviewers; serve as a liaison to project partners (internal and external) and manage plans for project<br \/> publici=<br \/>\nty, dissemination and training as appropriate. &nbsp;He or she will<br \/> deve=<br \/>\nlop instructional materials including complete curricula,<br \/> collections of=<br \/>\n lesson plans, activities, teaching posters, family<br \/> guides, videos, tool=<br \/>\nkits, and other resources. &nbsp;Materials will be<br \/> designed as in-classr=<br \/>\noom, informal, and outdoor experiences for pK-12<br \/> students, families, and=<br \/>\n the public. Finally, he or she will develop<br \/> and deliver innovative prof=<br \/>\nessional development for educators based on<br \/> current educational research=<br \/>\n, and customize those experiences based on<br \/> grade level, teacher backgrou=<br \/>\nnd knowledge, and for in-person and<br \/> online audiences.<\/p>\n<p> Qualifica=<br \/>\ntions:<br \/> Bachelor&#8217;s degree in education, geography, science, or related field required. Masters degree highly preferred. 5 or more years<br \/> exper=<br \/>\nience in instructional materials development and\/or program-<br \/> producing p=<br \/>\nrojects (including personnel, budgets, timeline,<br \/> production, distributio=<br \/>\nn and promotion). Deep understanding of climate<br \/> science and climate chan=<br \/>\nge research.<\/p>\n<p> Excellent management and organizational skills with a =<br \/>\nhigh attention<br \/> to detail; self-direction and motivation; ability to hand=<br \/>\nle a variety<br \/> of projects with changing priorities in a dynamic environme=<br \/>\nnt. Strong<br \/> interpersonal skills, including ability to collaborate effect=<br \/>\nively<br \/> with colleagues and project team members with diverse expertise; collaborative, team-oriented work style. &nbsp;Passion for National<br \/> G=<br \/>\neographic Society&#8217;s mission to inspire people to care about the<br \/> planet, =<br \/>\nand for teaching them how to do so.<\/p>\n<p> This is a 13-month position in =<br \/>\nNational Geographic=92s Washington, DC<br \/> office, with the possibility of r=<br \/>\nenewal contingent on funding.
