LensShift Fellowship<\/h3>\n

LensShift’s Beta platform went live last year and we’re now focused on improving engagement and usability. We’re looking for somebody who can further develop the platform with the guidance of our CTO. Being an open source project, this is a great opportunity for newer developers since it is a live app that can be referenced when applying for other opportunities. The time commitment is flexible with a target of 1-3 hours each week depending on your schedule\/interest. LensShift\u2019s entirely remote and global team works on a volunteer basis. As such, we do not have any funds available to provide remuneration for this role at this time. The language knowledge we’re looking for is Ruby on Rails and JavaScript.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

What\u2019s LensShift?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Good intentions alone are not enough. If they were, the world would be fixed by now. The case to reassess the global development realm and social impact work is not new. But, few talk about why we often get it so wrong in the first place. The history we (don\u2019t) learn, the (problematic) language we hear, and the (single-narrative) media around us all play a fundamental role in how we perceive reality, norms and \u2018other\u2019-ness. That\u2019s where we come in.<\/p>\n

What LensShift Does<\/strong><\/p>\n

LensShift is a space that facilitates learning, critical reflection and discourse on social change. Rather than replicating the compelling work of others, we bring together their wisdom to push beyond the status quo. We don\u2019t claim to have all the answers. Instead, we hope to provide enough information to get everyone in the habit of asking more questions. Our platform stitches together a growing Library of LensShift-summarized existing resources (articles, videos, podcasts, infographics, games, etc.) that are otherwise scattered across the web to create a more cohesive narrative. Additionally, resource Streams and Practical Guides we\u2019ve developed unpack critical topics fundamental to social impact and help apply these learnings. We\u2019re just getting started and would love your help.<\/p>\n

Who You Are<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u25cf Full-stack Ruby on Rails developer who\u2019s enthusiastic and detail oriented when building websites.<\/p>\n

\u25cf You have knowledge or at least a willingness to learn about JavaScript and Vue.js<\/p>\n

\u25cf You want to learn more about the social impact\/development space and want to contribute responsibly<\/p>\n

What You\u2019ll Do (1 Year Duration to Start)<\/p>\n

\u25cf Write clean, maintainable and efficient code to add features (search functionality, browse functionality, etc.) that work with LensShift\u2019s existing\u00a0open source repository<\/span><\/p>\n

\u25cf Identify bottlenecks and bugs and implement fixes for them<\/p>\n

\u25cf Explore additional SEO tools and practice that will help promote and spread the word about LensShift<\/p>\n

\u25cf Regular, open communication with the broader team<\/p>\n
