CARTA emphasizes experiential learning, where students learn by doing through art and design studios, performances and productions, a student-run communication agency, and student news bureaus in Miami, New York City and Washington DC.&nbsp; Focused on its engaged mission of driving the information, innovation, and cultural economy of South Florida and beyond,&nbsp;CARTA&nbsp;is committed to a trans-disciplinary, experiential learning curriculum that prepares graduates for meaningful careers and leadership in their chosen professions.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>POSITION DESCRIPTION AND QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Department of Journalism + Media in the College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts (CARTA) at Florida International University seeks applicants for a full-time, non-tenure earning Assistant\/Associate Clinical Professor of Professional Practice in Digital\/Multimedia Journalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Department\u2019s teaching philosophy is to educate through immersive learning opportunities. We are seeking an experienced and energetic professional&nbsp;to engage with students&nbsp;in our newly built Media Hub and remodeled broadcast studio&nbsp;to produce high-quality, multimedia student packages and projects for publishing on our digital platform\u2014the South Florida Media Network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The successful candidate will have a passion for integrating storytelling, journalism and technology, and have a portfolio of current work in digital journalism, data-driven storytelling, short and long form writing and multimedia production. We are looking for someone who can teach students traditional and digital journalism, writing, multimedia production, web publishing, data-driven and social media strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ideal candidate will be passionate about mentoring next-generation journalists and have the capacity to identify trends and emerging platforms that will enable future reporters.&nbsp;As&nbsp;our program is recognized for developing innovative community-based programs and projects, the candidate will have a portfolio that demonstrates the resourcefulness of enterprise journalism.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a full-time, nine-month, multi-year, non-tenure earning clinical professional practice appointment (initial appointment of three years) and is renewable upon mutual consent. This position requires a master&#8217;s degree in Journalism or a related relevant field.
