Position =
\nSummary:     Under general supervision, this position will provide=
\n system-level oversight and support of multi-user operating systems for new =
\nInterdisciplinary Film & Digital Media Program. This includes support of=
\n hardware and software tools, including installation, configuration, mainten=
\nance, and support of these systems. This position requires advanced knowledg=
\ne of systems analysis. This individual will research and recommend large-sca=
\nle systems purchases for new IFDM facilities, including coordination with Un=
\niversity purchasing processes. <\/span>

Duties and =
\nResponsibilities include: <\/span>
Collects information to analyze =
\nand evaluate existing or proposed systems <\/span>
Investigates, pl=
\nans, implements, tests, and debugs operating system software <\/span>
Researches and recommends hardware and software development, purchase, an=
\nd use <\/span>
Troubleshoots and resolves hardware, software, and c=
\nonnectivity problems, including user access and component configuration
Provides advanced technical assistance and maintenance support=
\n to departmental end users (faculty, staff and students) <\/span>
D=
\nocuments projects and writes user instructions <\/span>
Uses judgme=
\nnt in selecting among authorized procedures and seeks assistance when guidel=
\nines are inadequate, significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipa=
\nted problems arise <\/span>
May supervise and\/or lead lower graded =
\nstaff and\/or student employees <\/span>
Records and maintains hardw=
\nare and software inventories, site and\/or server licensing, and user access =
\nand security <\/span>
Maintains currency of knowledge with respect =
\nto relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and\/or systems <\/span> Performs problem resolution and provides on-call support for comput=
\ner\/network systems <\/span>
Maintains computer and electronics equi=
\npment, materials, and supplies used in classrooms and laboratories; develops=
\n and implements appropriate inventory control system <\/span>
Maint=
\nains, repairs, and oversees outsource repairs of film and video cameras, com=
\nputer\/editing equipment and projectors. Ensures that all materials, supplies=
\n, and equipment received for laboratories, classrooms, and studios are proce=
\nssed and distributed in a timely manner <\/span>
Serves on various =
\ntechnical committees and task forces, as appropriate to the position.
Conducts periodic or special inventory audits and reconciles phy=
\nsical counts; may accept, balance and deposit receipts for sale or purchase =
\nof materials <\/span>
Oversees the maintenance of parts and equipme=
\nnt on hand; initiates paperwork to purchase additional quantities when neces=
\nsary; Inspects shipments and records damages or defects <\/span>
An=
\nalyzes costs of equipment replacements, additions, modifications, and\/or upg=
\nrades; initiates paperwork for purchases of equipment, supplies, and other m=
\naterials necessary to maintain shop operations; Reports information to facul=
\nty and department <\/span>
Oversees check-out and distribution of p=
\nroduction equipment to students and faculty <\/span>
Ensures that w=
\neb sites are accessible from a variety of different environments and formula=
\ntes strategies and plans for future enhancement of web sites <\/span>
Maintains secure IFDM local-area and wide-area networks <\/span>

\n Establishes and maintains policies, procedures and technologies for informa=
\ntion assurance in the IFDM program <\/span>
