complete two years of coursework, including a small core of required courses, cognates, and electives. After achieving candidacy, Ph.D. candidates work on a dissertation topic of their own design in close collaboration with a faculty advisory team tailored to the student\u2019s interests. The program encourages diverse research methodologies, including practice-based approaches.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Ongoing faculty research areas include: data sonification, virtual reality music systems, telematic performance, new interfaces for musical expression, accessible music interfaces, antiracist music theories and pedagogies, digital fabrication for acoustics, technical ear training and critical listening, and poetic interactions of music, image, sound, and story.<\/span><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Applications for the Ph.D. are due by\u00a0<b>December\u00a010<\/b>.
