A wonderful graduate program I teach in at\u00a0Brooklyn College has a few open spaces for FALL 22 admission. I\u2019d really appreciate it if you\u2019d forward this to people who might be interested.\u00a0 We love students who have already begun their careers in New York City, but are open to artists new to technology in the arts as well. Please find below a description of our program.<\/div>\n

The Performance and Interactive Media Arts (PIMA) MFA at Brooklyn College <\/b>provides students with training, theoretical and technical knowledge, and practical experience in the conceptualization and production of collaborative, multidisciplinary artworks.<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

Students learn to use technology as a means of extending their personal artistic practice and facilitating cross-disciplinary artistic collaborations. Students with diverse academic, artistic, professional, and cultural backgrounds enter the program, form a close-knit community, and work in collaborative groups throughout the course of study, with close mentoring by faculty members\u00a0from the\u00a0departments of the School of Visual, Media and Performing Arts, including Art, the Conservatory of Music,\u00a0Film,\u00a0Television and Radio, and\u00a0Theater.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Bringing together experienced artists from a wide range of backgrounds, this intensive two-year program teaches interdisciplinary collaboration as a skill in itself, and multimedia computer programming as a tool for both practical production and collaboration. Following an initial term of intensive collaborative creation on campus, students are encouraged to expand into the community through socially\u00a0engaged practices\u00a0and present collaborative works in New York City venues, providing unique production opportunities.\u00a0The PIMA MFA program culminates in a collaborative thesis produced off-campus.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
PIMA <\/b>alumni have gone on to teach in full-time positions, often to develop new programs in media\/performance; work with theater and performance companies and venues, including the Wooster Group, the Builders Association, Big Art Group, PS 122, HERE, and 3-Legged Dog; and work as curators, visual artists, directors, writers, and\u00a0performers presenting their work at such organizations as the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Brooklyn Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Under the Radar at the Public Theater, and the Philadelphia International Arts Festival, among manyothers.<\/div>\n
