Based in NYC, with a growing national online presence, TKU<br \/>\ninspires neurodiverse students to create &amp; share the tools of technology in a supportive<br \/>\ncommunity. By addressing gaps in access to tech, TKU strives to change the paradigm<br \/>\nfor education &amp; employment for neurodiverse students ages 7-21. Tech Kids Unlimited<br \/>\nvalues are grounded in the following beliefs: everyone is deserving of an equal<br \/>\nopportunity to succeed; everyone has potential despite their challenges.<br \/>\nJob Summary<br \/>\nTKU is hiring a full-time Director of Education to lead TKU\u2019s expanding and innovative<br \/>\neducational offerings and all in-person programming. The Director of Education will<br \/>\nmanage an online learning program coordinator, a work-based learning coordinator and<br \/>\nshare a program associate with the ED. This person must be based in NYC, have<br \/>\nextensive experience teaching computer science principles and digital media skills, and<br \/>\nhave experience working with youth and teens.<br \/>\nAs a result of COVID-19, TKU pivoted to offer all its programming online. The silver<br \/>\nlining of this period has been the extended reach and impact of TKU\u2019s programs on<br \/>\nnational and international students. Moving forward, TKU\u2019s programs will be a hybrid of<br \/>\non-line and in-person offerings and the Director of Education will be responsible for a<br \/>\nfull portfolio of programming, and duties that include oversight of all teaching, learning<br \/>\nand youth\/teen activities, curriculum development and review, hiring and onboarding<br \/>\nteaching staff, and more. TKU\u2019s current programs include multiple daily, after school<br \/>\nand Sunday student workshops, career development programs for teens and young<br \/>\nadults, special events and initiatives, parent workshops and educational partnerships.<br \/>\nThe Director of Education will work closely with leadership and external partners to<br \/>\nexpand the TKU learning community to ensure that programs represent best practices<br \/>\nin education for neurodiverse students (students with autism, ad(h)d, learning and<br \/>\nemotional challenges). The ideal candidate will be a highly organized educator, have<br \/>\nexcellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be passionate about pedagogy,<br \/>\ndigital literacy, and technology education, with a willingness to learn from and be<br \/>\ninspired by TKU\u2019s students and community.<br \/>\nResponsibilities and Duties<br \/>\n\u25cf Oversee all teaching and learning activities, including in-person and virtual<br \/>\nworkshops, career-readiness programs, and providing support and guidance on<br \/>\nregistration and program applications.<\/p>\n<p>2<br \/>\n\u25cf Oversee curriculum development for all workshops; develop curriculum for<br \/>\nspecial events and programs; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop<br \/>\ncurricula for special initiatives.<br \/>\n\u25cf Develop program schedules and descriptions.<br \/>\n\u25cf Guide the registration process, ensuring that individual students are matched to<br \/>\nthe appropriate program.<br \/>\n\u25cf Manage within their department along with a roster of part-time tech teaching<br \/>\nartists, assistant teachers, counselors to ensure timely curriculum and workshop<br \/>\npreparation and best practices for classroom management; provide feedback and<br \/>\nsupport to classroom staff and respond to performance issues:<br \/>\n\u25cf Provide onboarding training and professional development for teaching staff.<br \/>\n\u25cf Represent TKU at conferences and other community events; lead professional<br \/>\ndevelopment sessions for external partners; write articles for online publications.<br \/>\n\u25cf Help to advance the curriculum of a National Science Foundation grant along<br \/>\nwith college partners.<br \/>\n\u25cf Assist the Executive Director with short narratives for grant applications and<br \/>\nreporting related to programming.<br \/>\n\u25cf Work with external evaluator to collect and review student and parent feedback.<br \/>\n\u25cf Attend parent, student Neurodiversity Advisory Council, and alumni staff advisory<br \/>\ncommittee meetings to ask questions and receive feedback; responsively iterate<br \/>\nprogram practices and teaching methods to improve student outcomes; and<br \/>\n\u25cf Develop and foster relationships with external partners to expand TKU\u2019s learning<br \/>\ncommunity to a broader audience within NYC and nationally.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications and Skills<br \/>\n\u25cf Bachelor\u2019s and\/or master\u2019s degree in Education, Youth Development, STEM,<br \/>\nSocial Work required.<br \/>\n\u25cf 5+ years\u2019 experience working in STEAM education settings such as in K12<br \/>\nclassrooms, after school programs, cultural institutions, or non-profit<br \/>\norganizations required<br \/>\n\u25cf Experience working with neurodiverse students and\/or historically marginalized<br \/>\nor under-resourced communities<br \/>\n\u25cf Excellent writing and analytical skills<br \/>\n\u25cf Excellent communication skills; experience with public speaking a plus.<br \/>\n\u25cf Collaborative team attitude and ability to work on a small fast-paced team<br \/>\nexperiencing rapid growth<br \/>\n\u25cf Familiarity with tools like Asana, Airtable, Slack, Google Suite and Zoom<br \/>\n\u25cf Technology and digital media production experience, i.e., coding, video, gaming,<br \/>\nsound, website, graphic design, UX, etc.<br \/>\n\u25cf Willingness to travel to various conferences\/events across NYC and outside NYC<br \/>\n\u25cf Willingness to work on select weekends and evening hours when we have<br \/>\nprograms (schedule flexible and adjusted accordingly)<br \/>\n\u25cf Willingness to work in a hybrid model (remote roughly 3-4 days a week in the<br \/>\nSept-May, in-person 5 days a week from June-August)<\/p>\n<p>3<\/p>\n<p>Compensation &amp; Benefits<br \/>\n\u25cf The position is full-time with the salary range at $75k-$80k commensurate with<br \/>\nexperience.<br \/>\n\u25cf 100% health coverage is paid by the organization (dental &amp; vision not included)<br \/>\nUnrestricted sick and mental health days<br \/>\n\u25cf Full-time employees receive 12 days of vacation during their first year of service,<br \/>\nplus 6 federal holidays.
