The position requires excellent<br \/>\nwriting and organizational skills and a desire to work collaboratively across departments. This<br \/>\nis a full-time exempt position, which reports to the Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs.<br \/>\nMuseum of the Moving Image advances the understanding, enjoyment, and appreciation of the<br \/>\nart, history, technique, and technology of film, television, and digital media by presenting<br \/>\nexhibitions, education programs, significant moving-image works, and interpretive programs,<br \/>\nand collecting and preserving moving-image related artifacts.<br \/>\nDuties and Responsibilities:<br \/>\n\u2022 Working with the Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs and the Executive Director,<br \/>\nenvision and realize an approach to exhibiting and collecting media-based art that<br \/>\ncomplements the overall mission of the Museum;<br \/>\n\u2022 Conceive and organize exhibitions or installations, which includes developing<br \/>\nrelationships and maintaining communication with artists; writing exhibition text;<br \/>\ncollaborating with collections and exhibitions staff on logistics, planning, and installation;<br \/>\nand adhering to deadlines;<br \/>\n\u2022 Collaborate on the development of education and public programs related to exhibitions;<br \/>\n\u2022 Work with staff to shape a schedule for exhibitions and public programs;<br \/>\n\u2022 Collaborate with staff, as needed, to realize long-term projects;<br \/>\n\u2022 Work with development team on grant applications and other fundraising activities;<br \/>\n\u2022 Participate in the development and stewardship of the Museum\u2019s collection of<br \/>\ntime-based media art;<br \/>\n\u2022 Develop and write exhibit catalogs and artist monographs, as required;<br \/>\n\u2022 Develop, produce, and moderate ongoing artist talks and other public programs;<br \/>\n\u2022 Maintain internal communication with all Museum departments as required;<br \/>\n\u2022 Other administrative and curatorial tasks as assigned.<br \/>\nJob Requirements:<br \/>\n\u2022 B.A., M.A. or Ph.D. in Art, Film\/Media Studies or a related field a plus;<br \/>\n\u2022 A strong record of organizing exhibitions and public programs;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Demonstrated research capabilities, with a sophisticated understanding of the moving<br \/>\nimage as an art form, and an innate intellectual curiosity;<br \/>\n\u2022 Proven success in collaborating with a diverse population of colleagues, guest curators,<br \/>\nand other industry professionals;<br \/>\n\u2022 Strong organizational skills; ability to set priorities, yet maintain flexibility in order to<br \/>\nrespond quickly to new opportunities;<br \/>\n\u2022 Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;<br \/>\n\u2022 Minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience required.<br \/>\nMuseum of the Moving Image is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace<br \/>\nand to maintaining a staff that represents the traditions and voices of contemporary Queens, NY.<br \/>\nMuseum of the Moving Image is an Equal Opportunity Employer does not discriminate against<br \/>\nany employee or applicant for employment on the basis of race, national origin, sex, marital<br \/>\nstatus, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, veteran status, or any other characteristic<br \/>\nprotected by federal, state or local law.<br \/>\nPhysical Demands &amp; Work Environment:<br \/>\nThe physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that<br \/>\nmust be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
