\nOverview of the Office
\nThe NYU Tandon School of Engineering Office of Student Leadership & Engagement
\n(OSL&E) seeks to support the academic goals of the School by providing services and
\nprograms designed to enhance and maximize students\u2019 co-curricular educational
\nopportunities. All programs and services are designed and implemented with the aim of
\ncreating a rich educational environment, infused with the core values of: community
\nengagement and civic responsibility, diversity and cultural competency, innovation and
\ncreative thinking, interpersonal and leadership development, and connection to the global
\nnetwork university. OSL&E strives to increase student satisfaction in Brooklyn, assist in the
\nretention of students leading to graduation, and provide opportunities for students to
\ndevelop essential life skills. OSL&E works to accomplish this vision by supporting and
\nadvising over 40 student clubs and organizations, providing leadership development
\nopportunities, engaging with students around topics of diversity and inclusion, organizing
\norientation and transition programs, providing campus wide events and programs,
\nsupporting on- and off-campus service initiatives, and working with undergraduate and
\ngraduate students to build community, both on-campus and within the local Brooklyn area.
\nOSL&E is a department within the Office of Student Life and Services.
\nBrief Job Description
\nThe Office of Student Leadership & Engagement, a part of the New York University Tandon
\nSchool of Engineering, is seeking an energetic and knowledgeable graduate student to fill
\nthe role of Graphic Designer and Office Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for
\na wide range of design, marketing, and general office duties, including those of a
\nconfidential nature. Experience working in a fast-paced professional environment is
\nrequired; experience working in a higher education setting is preferred.
\nResponsibilities
\n\u25cf Serve as the primary designer of office\u2019s print and online materials
\n\u25cf Oversee and execute marketing of office programs and initiatives
\n\u25cf Manage design and advertising requests for student clubs and organizations as
\nrequested
\n\u25cf Support management of office social media accounts, including designing
\ncampaigns, ensuring promotion of office events, and managing external marketing
\nrequests
\n\u25cf Compile the weekly office newsletter
\n\u25cf Perform general office management duties, including answering phones, greeting
\nstudents\/guests, and managing the office\u2019s central email account
\n\u25cf Oversee office facilities and supply management, including student club lounges,
\nlocker rentals, and Graduate Assistant office space<\/p>\n
\u25cf Work and interact with students, staff, and faculty across the school and specifically
\nwith student clubs and student leaders, both undergraduate and graduate
\n\u25cf Perform general word processing, spreadsheet, and data entry duties utilizing
\nintermediate-level functions
\n\u25cf Serve as an active member of the Student Activities team and assist with the logistics
\nand planning of both undergraduate and graduate programs including Convocation,
\nOrientation, Commencement, the Women\u2019s Summit, the Diversity Summit, and other
\nprograms and events
\n\u25cf Perform other duties as assigned by personnel within the Student Leadership &
\nEngagement area and the Office of Student Life & Services
\nMinimum Qualifications:
\n\u25cf Be a degree-seeking student at the Masters or Doctoral level at New York University
\n\u25cf Be able to commit to working 20 hours during the school week, including some
\nevening hours and weekends when necessary
\n\u25cf Be in good academic standing (above a 3.0 GPA)
\n\u25cf Experience with a variety of design platforms (Adobe Creative Suite preferred)
\n\u25cf Experience with social media management (Hootsuite preferred)
\n\u25cf Knowledge of both Microsoft Office Suite and all Google apps (Gmail, Calendar, Drive,
\nDocuments, etc.)
\n\u25cf Strong attention to detail
\n\u25cf Highly organized with proven time management skills
\n\u25cf Maintain focus under pressure\/deadlines
\n\u25cf Ability to work independently and in teams
\n\u25cf Ability to problem solve design and technical issues independently
\n\u25cf Must be discreet and exhibit good judgment in handling sensitive information
\nApplicants should have good communication and organizational skills, as well as be able to
\ntake initiative in new projects. Applicants will have a desire to work alongside students and
\nwork in a team environment. Applicants should also value working with diverse
\ncommunities, enjoy collaborating with students and staff, and have a strong interest in
\nhigher education.
\nDuration and Compensation
\nThe Graduate Assistant position officially begins September 1, 2022 and officially ends
\nMay 17, 2023 with a compensation of $27.50 per hour for 20 hours per week. The
\nGraduate Assistant will also have access to $500 per year to be put toward professional
\ndevelopment.
