All programs and services are designed and implemented with the aim of<br \/>\ncreating a rich educational environment, infused with the core values of: community<br \/>\nengagement and civic responsibility, diversity and cultural competency, innovation and<br \/>\ncreative thinking, interpersonal and leadership development, and connection to the global<br \/>\nnetwork university. OSL&amp;E strives to increase student satisfaction in Brooklyn, assist in the<br \/>\nretention of students leading to graduation, and provide opportunities for students to<br \/>\ndevelop essential life skills. OSL&amp;E works to accomplish this vision by supporting and<br \/>\nadvising over 40 student clubs and organizations, providing leadership development<br \/>\nopportunities, engaging with students around topics of diversity and inclusion, organizing<br \/>\norientation and transition programs, providing campus wide events and programs,<br \/>\nsupporting on- and off-campus service initiatives, and working with undergraduate and<br \/>\ngraduate students to build community, both on-campus and within the local Brooklyn area.<br \/>\nOSL&amp;E is a department within the Office of Student Life and Services.<br \/>\nBrief Job Description<br \/>\nThe Office of Student Leadership &amp; Engagement, a part of the New York University Tandon<br \/>\nSchool of Engineering, is seeking an energetic and knowledgeable graduate student to fill<br \/>\nthe role of Graphic Designer and Office Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for<br \/>\na wide range of design, marketing, and general office duties, including those of a<br \/>\nconfidential nature. Experience working in a fast-paced professional environment is<br \/>\nrequired; experience working in a higher education setting is preferred.<br \/>\nResponsibilities<br \/>\n\u25cf Serve as the primary designer of office\u2019s print and online materials<br \/>\n\u25cf Oversee and execute marketing of office programs and initiatives<br \/>\n\u25cf Manage design and advertising requests for student clubs and organizations as<br \/>\nrequested<br \/>\n\u25cf Support management of office social media accounts, including designing<br \/>\ncampaigns, ensuring promotion of office events, and managing external marketing<br \/>\nrequests<br \/>\n\u25cf Compile the weekly office newsletter<br \/>\n\u25cf Perform general office management duties, including answering phones, greeting<br \/>\nstudents\/guests, and managing the office\u2019s central email account<br \/>\n\u25cf Oversee office facilities and supply management, including student club lounges,<br \/>\nlocker rentals, and Graduate Assistant office space<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Work and interact with students, staff, and faculty across the school and specifically<br \/>\nwith student clubs and student leaders, both undergraduate and graduate<br \/>\n\u25cf Perform general word processing, spreadsheet, and data entry duties utilizing<br \/>\nintermediate-level functions<br \/>\n\u25cf Serve as an active member of the Student Activities team and assist with the logistics<br \/>\nand planning of both undergraduate and graduate programs including Convocation,<br \/>\nOrientation, Commencement, the Women\u2019s Summit, the Diversity Summit, and other<br \/>\nprograms and events<br \/>\n\u25cf Perform other duties as assigned by personnel within the Student Leadership &amp;<br \/>\nEngagement area and the Office of Student Life &amp; Services<br \/>\nMinimum Qualifications:<br \/>\n\u25cf Be a degree-seeking student at the Masters or Doctoral level at New York University<br \/>\n\u25cf Be able to commit to working 20 hours during the school week, including some<br \/>\nevening hours and weekends when necessary<br \/>\n\u25cf Be in good academic standing (above a 3.0 GPA)<br \/>\n\u25cf Experience with a variety of design platforms (Adobe Creative Suite preferred)<br \/>\n\u25cf Experience with social media management (Hootsuite preferred)<br \/>\n\u25cf Knowledge of both Microsoft Office Suite and all Google apps (Gmail, Calendar, Drive,<br \/>\nDocuments, etc.)<br \/>\n\u25cf Strong attention to detail<br \/>\n\u25cf Highly organized with proven time management skills<br \/>\n\u25cf Maintain focus under pressure\/deadlines<br \/>\n\u25cf Ability to work independently and in teams<br \/>\n\u25cf Ability to problem solve design and technical issues independently<br \/>\n\u25cf Must be discreet and exhibit good judgment in handling sensitive information<br \/>\nApplicants should have good communication and organizational skills, as well as be able to<br \/>\ntake initiative in new projects. Applicants will have a desire to work alongside students and<br \/>\nwork in a team environment. Applicants should also value working with diverse<br \/>\ncommunities, enjoy collaborating with students and staff, and have a strong interest in<br \/>\nhigher education.<br \/>\nDuration and Compensation<br \/>\nThe Graduate Assistant position officially begins September 1, 2022 and officially ends<br \/>\nMay 17, 2023 with a compensation of $27.50 per hour for 20 hours per week.
