Part Time Freelance Visual Designer (Web) <\/p>\n
We=
\n are looking to hire a part time visual designer on a project-based freelanc=
\ne retainer basis to complement our small interdisciplinary team of strategis=
\nts, designers, and programmers. A more permanent role may be considered as o=
\nur relationship develops. Telecommuting is a possibility, but you must be ab=
\nle to available to attend meetings in our Union Square office two to three t=
\nimes a week. <\/p>\n
Purpose is an international team based in New York th=
\nat builds cutting-edge social and political movements. Our principals David =
\nMadden and Jeremy Heimans co-founded GetUp.org =96 an Australian online poli=
\ntical movement that is now larger than all Australia=92s political parties p=
\nut together and www.avaaz.org\/en\/, =
\nthe world=92s largest online political community with more than 3.3 million =
\nmembers (a partnership with MoveOn.org). <\/p>\n
Purpose is currently advi=
\nsing advocacy groups and progressive companies around the world and is also =
\nincubating new issue-based movements. We=92re a new, unusual and evolving co=
\nmbination of an agency and a home for political and social entrepreneurship.=
\n Most recently we=92ve launched http=
\n:\/\/livestrongaction.org, a movement platform designed to raise awareness=
\n around the fight against cancer. <\/p>\n
Responsibilities: <\/p>\n
-Des=
\nign the visuals for websites and emails based on campaign objectives and cli=
\nent branding specifications
-Translate wireframes, sketches, and concep=
\nt documents into smart design solutions and user-centric interactions
-=
\nDesign prototypes and mock ups to demonstrate proof of concepts
-Visual=
\nize data in provocative, easy to understand ways to move users to take actio=
\nn on issues
-Style Powerpoint\/Keynote presentations, print documents, a=
\nnd other related collateral as needed
-Work closely with the Purpose te=
\nam of strategists, designers, and programmers to ensure that designs are del=
\nivered effectively and remain true to concept <\/p>\n
Requirements:
-Bachelors or equivalent in visual\/graphic design or web media design, o=
\nr equivalent work experience (MFA or related degree a plus)
-Ability to=
\n work iteratively on producing uncluttered, visually striking, action-orient=
\ned web designs based on clients=92 brand image and style guidelines
-Hi=
\nghly developed skill and sensitivity in typography, composition, color theor=
\ny, and photography use and manipulation
-Flexible, responsive, and with=
\n excellent oral and written communications skills for interfacing with clien=
\nts and the Purpose Campaigns team
-Three to five years experience desig=
\nning launched web sites, experience designing for print and related collater=
\nal a plus
-Fluency in CSS, HTML, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flas=
\nh
-Familiarity with Drupal CMS and Javascript\/jQuery a plus
-Aware=
\nness and passion for social and political issues <\/p>\n
