{"id":21965,"date":"2022-12-09T20:15:21","date_gmt":"2022-12-10T01:15:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/opportunities\/?p=21965"},"modified":"2022-12-09T20:15:21","modified_gmt":"2022-12-10T01:15:21","slug":"job-program-manager-onx-studio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/itp.nyu.edu\/opportunities\/2022\/12\/09\/job-program-manager-onx-studio\/","title":{"rendered":"JOB: Program Manager, ONX Studio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>Program Manager, ONX Studio (Full-Time)<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>About ONX Studio<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>ONX Studio, founded as a joint program of the New Museum\u2019s NEW INC program and Onassis<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>USA, is a shared production studio and exhibition space for top creative XR artists and<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>professionals working across a range of immersive technologies \u2013 often crossing over into live<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>performance and other fi elds. Launched in September 2020, there are currently four main<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>components to the ONX Studio:<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>1) Membership &amp; Community<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>ONX plays an active role toward sustaining an artistic community around XR and immersive<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>practices. In all cases ONX seeks to create mentorship, advancement and collaborative<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>opportunities for this community of approximately 40 creators and artists. Community<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>members have been selected from New York, nationally in the US, Greece and beyond.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>a) We offer this community dedicated studio and workspace to operate their practice and to<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>realize new creative projects. The Studio includes equipment and facilities suitable for<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>producing XR work, including such resources as sound-proof, light-controlled rooms,<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>high-processing power computers, VR and AR headsets, a motion capture system,<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>projectors, lighting kits and a suite of audio production resources.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>b) There are a range of events and support activities for members, including fi nancial support,<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>presentation opportunities, bi-monthly community events and social occasions and<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>networking.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>c) Some public programs will be generated by the Program Manager. Others may be<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>partner-generated with invited guest organizations or artists.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>2) Presentation Partnerships<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Through developing durable, trusted partnerships with other leading organizations in the US<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>and globally, ONX aims to create opportunities for its members, as well as public audiences, to<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>experience work at the highest level in the space itself. Through leveraging these institutional<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>collaborations ONX seeks to increase its public profi le and add value in the fi eld.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>a) ONX co-produces 2-3 public facing programs of XR work from non-member artists in<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>collaboration with other organizations (Venice, Tribeca, MAX, New York Live Arts,<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Sundance, etc)<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>b) ONX actively seeks out opportunities for our artists\u2019 projects and with the resources<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>available, support those opportunities wherever possible<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>c) ONX does occasionally seek out rentals, enable one-off space usage or other more casual<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>partnerships.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>3) Thought Leadership<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>ONX serves as a hub for conversation, development and ideas through a program of public<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>facing and industry programs.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>a) ONX will host bi-monthly public-facing programs live and online around key ideas in the<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>fi eld. Curatorial opportunities will be offered to at-large members for these programs.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>b) During local events such as the Tribeca festival ONX will host brunches, or other events<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>for industry.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>4) Transatlantic Bridge<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>ONX serves as a bridge between NYC and Athens, serving to extend and amplify the work of<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>ONX artists, and the Greek XR community through presentation, humanities events and<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>education.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>a) A number of Greek artists nominated by Onassis are guaranteed membership as outlined<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>above<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>b) With the curatorial team in Athens, ONX works are a part of exhibitions and other events<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>in Athens produced by Onassis there.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>c) At least one workshop \/ masterclass will be held in Athens each year led by ONX<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>members, and we will explore opportunities for deeper workshops focused on particular<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>new technologies.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>d) ONX members will have opportunities for residencies in Athens as studio space and a new<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>lab comes on line.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Summary<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Reporting to the Director of Creative Partnerships, the ONX Program Manager will manage a<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>growing member community, develop and produce public programming, and see to day-to-day<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>admin and operations.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>The Programs Manager will be joining a small, and highly collaborative, fast-paced team including:<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf <\/i><i>Sensorium<\/i><i>, a team of two who act as technical directors and manage the ONX studio<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>space and equipment and provide tech support for the community and programming.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf <\/i><i>Onassis Foundation<\/i><i>, which provides light administrative and accounting support, liaises<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>with the building management, and acts as a conduit between ONX in NYC and Onassis<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Athens program initiatives.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf 3-4 Program Partners including <\/i><i>NEW INC<\/i><i>, a founder of ONX and a major pipeline for<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>new ONX members and other organizations, local and national (TBC) who will be feeders<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>for content in the studio and opportunities for its artists.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>The Program Manager is responsible for maintaining ONX as a creative, productive working<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>environment and taking ownership over the needs of the community and staff within the shared<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>workspace. The ideal candidate is driven, passionate, personable, and never misses a beat. This is a<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>position with a strong focus on producing public and community programming for ONX and<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>seeing through on program execution from contracts and promotion to event production.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Additionally, this role lends critical support for major partnership events (with guest organizations,<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>studios, or visiting artists) that may also be presented in the space, and leads planning and<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>production for smaller, internal events for our member community.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>This is a part time contract position requiring 30 hrs per week during regular working hours. ONX<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Studio is located in Olympic Tower at 641 Fifth Avenue in New York City. The option to work<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>remotely up to 2 days a week is available. In person evening and weekend work will also be<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>required for special events.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>The position is budgeted at $4,500 per month for 2023, with a goal of moving to a full time<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>position in 2024.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Responsibilities<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Production<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf ONX community management, community events: The Programs Manager shall be<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>responsible for setting up new member orientations, managing member contracts, and<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>liaising with Sensorium to ensure studio resources are allocated fairly across members.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>The priority is to be available to members, assist in daily requests, and help ensure an<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>inclusive and welcoming experience for the community.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>o Supporting members through development of community events and activities<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>&#x25aa; Community events may take the form of happy hours, workshares, holiday<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>gatherings, or one-off gatherings and events<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>&#x25aa; Program Manager must determine the appropriate cadence of community<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>events in collaboration with ONX team<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>o Development of career \/ project support opportunities for the members<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>&#x25aa; Ensure that opportunities are communicated to all members<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>&#x25aa; Monitoring sources for relevant updates in the XR fi eld that might be<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>applicable to members<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>o Tracking member activities and their events\/exhibitions for ONX mailing list<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf Execute public program events (approximately 1 per month), owning all aspects of a<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>production timeline from ordering, to set up and pack down, ensuring they are executed<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>seamlessly throughout. Key work may include but is not limited to:<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>o Execution of artist and contractor agreements,<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>o Promotion and communication of events both internal and public including<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>compiling guest lists for events and programs in Eventbrite<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>o Securing vendors (graphic designers, photographers, videographers) for<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>project-specifi c support and documentation<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>o Managing budgets, staff or docent allocation, ROS, and catering, if needed.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>o Representing ONX in person at public programming and other events<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf Support partner programs and events. Work with ONX team to execute on our behalf the<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>co-production of events and presentations in the space.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Operations &amp; Admin<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf Support on-boarding and off-boarding of ONX members in partnership with Sensorium<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>who can help with space \/ equipment orientation.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf Responsible for implementation of mass email communications, calendar scheduling,<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>document \/ contract generation, member data collection, and database management.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf Responsible for processing and tracking invoices, payments, check requests, and purchases<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>for ONX program and operations, and working with Onassis Foundation Program Assistant<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>to reconcile expense reports. Keep consumables and supplies current.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf Collaborate with Sensorium on regular ONX reports to Onassis Foundation Athens and<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>NEW INC teams.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Required Skills &amp; Experience:<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf You have 2-4 years relevant professional experience in a similar role as a producer, studio<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>manager, or project manager.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf Passionate about artists who are engaged in VR\/AR\/XR. Knowledge of the top US and<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>international presenters and distributors of this work (Tribeca, Sundance, Ars Electronica,<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Venice, IDFA, SXSW, etc).<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf Must be energized by people, and passionate about culture and community. You are a<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>people person and are energized by working with a large, and ever changing, creative<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>community.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>independently while simultaneously interfacing with our diverse member community.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Fluency with making programs or spaces inclusive, accessible, and culturally relevant is<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>required.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf Exceptional communicator, with impeccable attention to detail.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf Demonstrated experience with event production.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf Demonstrated fl uency and experience with program and operating budgets.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf Demonstrated experience with digital marketing tools such as Eventbrite and Squarespace<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>is preferred.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf Fluency with Adobe Creative Suite and experience with graphic design, layouts, and photo<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>editing is highly desirable.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf Comfortable and confi dent in taking autonomous ownership over tasks within your<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>purview and are always anticipating the next move, striving to improve systems and<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>processes at every turn.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf You love processes, planning, and keeping yourself and everyone else on track.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u25cf You are a doer and a problem-solver.
