\nJob Summary
\nTeachers create curriculum and teach technology and digital media arts workshops on a
\nvariety of topics to neurodiverse youth, teens, and young adults. Topics include Graphic
\nDesign, Coding, Game Design, Music Production, Video Editing, and more. Ideal
\ncandidates will be multidisciplinary. Teachers are trained and supported by the
\nEducation Director to complete work with neurodiverse learners and develop curriculum
\nfollowing TKU\u2019s pedagogical model.
\nTKU offers both online and in-person workshops at our location in Downtown Brooklyn.
\nTeachers must have previous teaching experience.
\nResponsibilities and Duties
\n\u25cf Develop curriculum for weeklong, single-day, and special event workshops;
\nsubmit curriculum for review in a timely manner.
\n\u25cf Teach weeklong, single-day, and special event workshops for groups of approx.
\n15 students, actively engaging with individual students and the full group.
\n\u25cf Demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
\n\u25cf Collaborate with other classroom staff including assistant teachers, tech
\ncounselors, social workers, and occupational therapists.
\n\u25cf Communicate issues or incidents to administrators for support.
\n\u25cf Attend occasional staff training and professional development meetings.
\nQualifications and Skills
\n\u25cf Experience in a selection of digital media disciplines such as Graphic Design,
\nMusic Production, Video Editing, Game Design, Coding, or others.
\n\u25cf 3-5 years of experience teaching elementary, middle, high school, and\/or
\ncollege aged learners in a school or out of school setting required.
\n\u25cf Experience working with neurodiverse students or students with disabilities is a
\nplus.
\n\u25cf Experience developing curriculum and implementing lesson plans.
\n\u25cf Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
\n\u25cf Virtual and in-person teaching experience is a plus.
\n\u25cf Knowledge of classroom management or youth development best practices.<\/p>\n

Compensation & Benefits
\nHourly teaching rate: $55 per hour (prep time is included in the hourly teaching rate)

\nJob Summary
\nTech Counselors assist with students\u2019 tech needs in the classroom. Students learn
\nprogramming such as Graphic Design, Coding, Game Design, and more. Tech
\ncounselors will use their expertise to help the teacher and keep students engaged. Tech
\ncounselors should be kind and patient, but no experience working with children or
\nneurodiverse students is required, although a plus. Opportunities to teach and be
\ninvolved with more programming possible in the future.
\nResponsibilities and Duties
\n\u25cf Assist students with tech projects and tasks one-on-one and in small groups.
\n\u25cf Help students help themselves by asking questions, making suggestions, and
\nbreaking down instructions into discreet steps.
\n\u25cf Model self-advocacy, a growth mindset, and and social and emotional skills such
\nas self-awareness, social awareness, and responsible decision making.
\n\u25cf Assist the teacher with classroom and resource set up and clean up.
\n\u25cf Engage students socially about their interests, hobbies, passions, and encourage
\nthem to engage with each other.
\n\u25cf Help students with wayfinding (to the bathroom, lunch area, classroom, etc.)
\n\u25cf Observe and interact with students during lunchtime.
\n\u25cf Maintain a safe environment for all students.
\nQualifications and Skills
\n\u25cf Experience in a selection of digital media disciplines such as Graphic Design,
\nMusic Production, Video Editing, Game Design, Coding, or others.
\n\u25cf Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
\n\u25cf Patient and compassionate attitude.
\n\u25cf Experience working with elementary, middle, high school, and\/or college aged
\nlearners is a plus.
\n\u25cf Experience working with neurodiverse students or students with disabilities is a
\nplus.
\nSchedule Requirements
\nTo join our staff for summer programs, counselors must be available July 10th – August
\n4th 2023, Monday – Friday from 9:30am – 5:00pm ET virtually or in-person at our
\nlocation in Downtown Brooklyn.<\/p>\n

\nCandidates with teaching experience may be eligible for the Assistant Teacher Role.
\nAssistant Teachers are responsible for reviewing the curriculum before class and being
\nprepared to teach in the event the teacher is unable to lead the class.
\nAssistant Teacher Rate: $25 per hour.
