The Movement Lab up at the Barnard College Dance Department is looking to hire a F\/T coordinator \/ technologist \/ creative researcher. It\u2019s a space that is fully decked out with surround projection, black and white box, dance floor, grid, multi-channel speaker system, cameras, etc etc.<\/p>\n<p>Coordinator \/ Creative technologist \/ Researcher Movement Lab<br \/>\nThe Lab operates as a collaborative, process-focused, creative space with a modular structure<br \/>\nthat empowers everyone at the Lab (staff, students, faculty, guest artists, etc.) to help shape its<br \/>\norganization and outcomes. As such we encourage lateral creative exploration in our own<br \/>\nstaffing practice, and collaborative research with whoever engages the Lab. The Lab is driven by<br \/>\ncreative insight and input from staff in all project engagements. Generally speaking, we do not<br \/>\nengage work that does not seek to enhance the Lab and our own practice \/ research.<\/p>\n<p>Job Function<br \/>\nThe Barnard College Movement Lab is seeking a full-time Coordinator to support the Lab\u2019s mission and<br \/>\nthe continued development of its services and programs. This position will be central to supporting the<br \/>\noperational logistics of running the Movement Lab. This includes: assisting with administration and<br \/>\nscheduling, Artists in Residence liaison including contracting and payment, supporting Lab staff and<br \/>\nstudents in technical and creative endeavors, and assisting the Associate Director and Post-<br \/>\nBaccalaureate Fellow with on hand staffing when rehearsals and workshops are running. Additionally, the<br \/>\nCoordinator must have the ability to pilot their own creative movement\/technology practice with a keen<br \/>\ninterest in actively developing best practices in the field and sharing these in creative work and<br \/>\nengagement.<br \/>\nThis hire will assist with both the development and implementation of long-term goals and the day-to-day<br \/>\nlogistics of running the Movement Lab. This includes strategizing to increase accessibility and reduce<br \/>\nbarriers of entry to the Lab, co-facilitating Artist in Resident and Student Artist in Resident engagement,<br \/>\nfielding emails, scheduling hours, and managing the Lab\u2019s calendar. This hire will also supervise the<br \/>\nopening and closing of the space for classes, workshops, creative sharing and collaboration, when other<br \/>\nstaff are not available.<\/p>\n<p>Essential Duties Summary<br \/>\n1). Daily Operations: the Coordinator will:<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Provide front-facing support for Lab users during designated \u201cOpen Lab\u201d periods, as well as<br \/>\nagreed upon off hour \u2018rehearsals\/ explorations\u2019, emphasizing safe and responsible equipment use<br \/>\nthroughout the space. This includes keeping inventories updated and the smooth running of<br \/>\nequipment checkout.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Supporting Artists in Residence and student artists while on-site, should they run into<br \/>\ntroubleshooting issues or user questions they need help answering. Assisting with technical and<br \/>\ncreative mentoring of Student Artists in Residence and Post-Baccalaureate Fellow.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Co-facilitate Movement Lab programming with the rest of the staff, including programming<br \/>\ndevelopment, production, and promotion.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Assist the Associate Director in providing course-related support to faculty and students.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Assist the Associate Director in collecting and analyzing Center usage\u00a0data and generating<br \/>\nreports that communicate key data points to Center stakeholders.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Share administrative tasks with other Movement Lab staff members, including but not limited to:<br \/>\nsetting agenda and running Lab team meetings, fielding emails, writing contracts, scheduling,<br \/>\npayment processing, attending BLAIS and all-staff meetings.<br \/>\n2). Community Building: the Coordinator will<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Contribute to inclusive and welcoming creative space, and help ensure that users adhere to<br \/>\nsimilar practices when interacting with others throughout the space.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Assist in updating lab media feeds and updating website content when needed.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Build connections with the other Milstein Centers as well as with BC\/CU Departments and<br \/>\nOffices, keeping an eye towards collaboration and mutual development.<br \/>\n\uf0b7 Act as a Movement Lab liaison when engaging with artists outside of BC\/CU.<br \/>\n3). Additional job responsibilities and duties as needed<\/p>\n<p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities<br \/>\nInteract with students, staff, faculty, artists, and workshop leaders in a collaborative manner. Understand<br \/>\nand be willing to engage with the needs of experimental laboratory work in the arts and sciences as<br \/>\nrelates to the study of human movement, creative technology, film and theatrical production, and<br \/>\ncollaborative inter-disciplinary work which may require non-standard hours of engagement.<br \/>\nReference and be aware of best practices within the field and to assist in translating these into practice in<br \/>\nthe Lab. Understand broadly, and be willing to engage with cross disciplinary purposing of technology,<br \/>\nartistic practice, and scientific investigation as relates to movement and cognition. Have an understanding<br \/>\nof workflow and time management and the skills in any software required to facilitate this effectively. Have<br \/>\nthe capacity to pick up and quickly master new technologies as they develop.<br \/>\nThe Coordinator will also the have the opportunity to explore, research and engage in creative work for<br \/>\ntheir own projects. In fact, this is required with the aim of working in a horizontal collaborative structure\u00a0towards deep creative practice and skill sharing.<\/p>\n<p>Required Qualification Summary<br \/>\nBachelor\u2019s degree<br \/>\nProficiency with multiple of the following: Adobe Creative Suite.
