The pioneering artists were driven by the idea that architecture could extend human life, a concept they called \u201creversible destiny.\u201d Inspired by their work, the Ultra Space Symposium will explore the relationship between design and the human body, in contexts from live performance to visual art and sound design.<\/p>\n<p>The symposium will open with a screening of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.proofpoint.com\/v2\/url?u=https-3A__yaleultra.space_Film&amp;d=DwMFaQ&amp;c=slrrB7dE8n7gBJbeO0g-IQ&amp;r=0Umh6M8SX4T_phclHawyU8HL5QBYZMCqrP5icxjCXO4&amp;m=bmynvqxylqkVKMcVUS5tKzsqLNzqnDxypOcSxWowFHwx_rYKkEKH1LwHPqDlU-1b&amp;s=R2F_gPsRqepx9GtTC9TZQFpZ-Okyo_uvsdw90kyYmvk&amp;e=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"history noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/urldefense.proofpoint.com\/v2\/url?u%3Dhttps-3A__yaleultra.space_Film%26d%3DDwMFaQ%26c%3DslrrB7dE8n7gBJbeO0g-IQ%26r%3D0Umh6M8SX4T_phclHawyU8HL5QBYZMCqrP5icxjCXO4%26m%3DbmynvqxylqkVKMcVUS5tKzsqLNzqnDxypOcSxWowFHwx_rYKkEKH1LwHPqDlU-1b%26s%3DR2F_gPsRqepx9GtTC9TZQFpZ-Okyo_uvsdw90kyYmvk%26e%3D&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1682014118819000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0w3rwThSIcVV5fBKuxJsyd\">Ultra Space: Terra Cosma<\/a>, a short documentary film produced by CCAM, as well as \u201cWhat Do You See?: An Interdisciplinary Look at a Work by Arakawa and Gins.\u201d This panel will bring together speakers including Miwako Tezuka, Associate Director of the Arakawa and Gins-founded Reversible Destiny Foundation, and Yale faculty members including Professor of Astronomy and Physics Priya Nataranjan, Assistant Professor of Architecture Mae-Ling Lokko, and Professor in the Practice of Sound Design Matthew Suttor.<\/p>\n<p>The Ultra Space Symposium: Arakawa + Gins will also feature the premieres of\u00a0Latency, a new performance created by Liam Bellman-Sharpe, and\u00a0Composition in Frozen Time\u00a0by Yale Professor of Music Konrad Kaczmarek. The panel \u201cBody\/Cyborg\/Alien: Embodying What\u2019s Out There\u201d will feature Ravi Kumar Kopparapu of NASA, EM, SS. Experimental workshops such as \u201cManipulations,\u201d led by CCAM Director Dana Karwas, Yale School of Art Critic Sarah Oppenheimer, and CCAM Postgraduate Fellow Alvin Ashiatey, will invite unique engagement with the symposium\u2019s themes.
