\nPosition: Summer Program Instructor<\/p>\n
Job Description: The Summer Program Instructor works as part of a team to implement hands-on
\nproject-based curriculum with youth ages 14-15. This position works directly with teachers,
\nsupporting their professional development as they learn and implement a hands-on program
\ndesigned by Beam Center that involves art, technology, and craft. The Summer Program Instructor
\nwill work with teachers and youth across several schools as they build projects, learn new skills, and
\nmake connections to related career paths. This person helps lead professional development for
\nteachers, helps teachers to create a positive and supportive learning environment for a population of
\nmultilingual students, and provides technical assistance. This position is also responsible for leading
\nprogramming with teachers when required. The Summer Program Instructor reports directly to the
\nProgram Director.
\nResponsibilities:
\n\u25cf Learn and share with teachers a series a hands-on project arc designed by Beam Center
\n\u25cf Train teachers on the tools, techniques and concepts needed for the project
\n\u25cf Support teachers (remotely and in-person) in implementing this program
\n\u25cf Support teachers and students in making program \u2192 real-world career connections
\n\u25cf Co-teach projects in schools to youth alongside teachers
\n\u25cf Work with teachers across multiple school sites
\n\u25cf Work as part of a highly collaborative team and communicate regularly with team members
\nQualifications of strong candidates:
\n\u25cf A personal practice and technical expertise in one or more of the following: Digital
\nFabrication, Electronics, Coding (web-based and\/or physical computing), AR, architecture &
\ndesign, other manual craft and fabrication skills
\n\u25cf Experience teaching or otherwise working with youth
\n\u25cf Experience working with diverse populations, particularly English Language Learners (ELLs)
\n\u25cf Highly collaborative, able to ask questions, offer professional opinions, celebrate teamwork
\n\u25cf Highly independent, able to set and manage personal goals, expectations, and schedule
\n\u25cf Detail oriented with experience managing multi-faceted projects while meeting deadlines
\n\u25cf Clear and consistent communicator
\n\u25cf Curious, life-long learner
\nEmployment Status: This is a part-time temporary position (32 hours\/week). Dates of employment
\nare Monday, June 12th – Tuesday, August 22nd, specific schedule TBD.
\nCompensation: This position is compensated at an hourly wage of $27\/hour.
