Computer Music Journal, a scholarly journal founded in 1976 and published
\nby MIT Press, invites applications for the position of managing editor. The
\nmanaging editor reports to the Editor (editor-in-chief), ensures that all
\neditors contribute materials for each issue in a timely fashion, ensures
\nthat editors and authors review proofs in a timely fashion, and collates
\nreviews of proofs. The position entails an estimated average of 10-12 hours
\nper month and has no geographical limitations. Applications are due July
\n25, 2023. The position is expected to begin in early September, 2023. The
\ncurrent managing editor, Peter Castine, wishes to retire from this position.<\/p>\n

\nRequirements:
\nBroad and deep knowledge of computer music
\nMaster’s or doctoral degree
\nMusical training
\nTraining in a technical field (e.g., computer science, engineering,
\nmathematics, sciences)
\nEnglish fluency and good writing skills
\nPunctuality and attention to detail
\nExcellent communication skills<\/p>\n
\nExperience managing other personnel
\nFamiliarity with foreign languages<\/p>\n
\nServe as the primary liaison between the editors and MIT Press’s
\nproduction coordinator, for all matters related to production of issues.
\nEnsure that the Editor, manuscript editor, reviews editor, products
\neditor, and any guest editors send materials for each issue on time.
\nGather publication agreements and any needed permissions for articles’
\ncontent.
\nProvide articles to MIT Press for early online posting shortly after
\nreceiving them from the manuscript editor.
\nProvide all other materials to MIT Press by the deadline for each
\nissue.
\nEnsure that authors and editors review proofs in a timely fashion.
\nCollate editors’ and authors’ requested revisions after they review
\nproofs.
\nCommunicate with authors about post-publication matters such as
\ncomplimentary copies.<\/p>\n
